Hi <<<<< Lyme family >>>>>,

First off, I don't mean to be indelicate...

I take breaks form the lower dose Buhner protocol I am on,and the other supplements [both for my mental health and because of finances].

It seems just about every time I restart meds/supplements or try something else...

[even after I check very carefully for any cross reactions between the various meds/supplements and the two prescriptions]

... I get the diarrhea... One would think,I'd get used to these various supplements and meds... I've been on several since 2006.

I take Cats claw daily [prima una de gato], Resveratrol daily, and andrographis [about three times a week].

And a few other supplements, *-fish oils/flax-oil/borage blend-* [low dose as per the dr. at free clinic]. and cinnamon verum, Vit.D,E etc.

It just puzzles me, supplements and a few kitchen spices, kept in balance w/ my Metformin, and Diovan... shouldn't cause this.

We checked w/ the pharmacist, I keep about four hours between the various supplements and the prescription meds [which are taken in a.m.].

I check before I take any of these supplements/ meds and prescriptions,if I add anything new...even garlic.

Gluten free, yup in almost all instances[there are times I am not sure, when we have to travel, and I err on the side of caution].

Is it just herxing? Parasites maybe? [ I try to get wormwood when possible, difficult to find her in SE Idaho].

I don't mean to be a downer,or be as I said indelicate... Just trying to figure this out...

And it seems to be worsening since the 'statin poisoning in March [ which medicine I stopped immediately ].

Any tho'ts or ideas? Do I just buy stock in Imodium? Is it -just- herxing?

Right now w/ weather changing I am fighting headaches, leg aches, neck and back aches, and numbness in left leg and part of foot...

Just looking for answers, we travel because of TxC's Drs.,and I need to find away to get the diarrhea to stop.

There's got to be a low cost way,to get things in balance... I use the Imodium generic when this flares.

Thanks for any tho'ts... [ oh,I take about 10 or 12 supplements right now , and they shouldn't cause issues w/ each other,or the 2 prescriptions ].

Jus' puzzled Silverwolfi tired of runnin' for the little room...

Hi Silverwolfie,
I'm sorry you're suffering with this. My hubby had the runs for a few hours yesterday and 2 charcoal pills stopped it in its tracks. Maybe it would help you too?
Hope you feel better soon,
Hens

<<<<< 17hens >>>>>,

That sounds like a plan, thanks for the info'!

Hope your hubby is feeling a lot better now!

Is it activated charcoal?

Have to wait till next week, but I'll see if I can get some Charcoal pills.

Don't know what causes this..but it gets old... makes me feel super tired too.

Appreciate the tho't,and I like your verse from psalms too!!!

This is just puzzling to me, can't quite figure out the cause.

We filter our water, I am careful about washing my hands and so on...but the problem keeps occuring.

I am also seeming to be really chemically sensitive anymore.

I'll check back in later...but I like the charcoal idea, maybe better than having to use the Imodium so much.

Silver--

One of the side effects of cat's claw is diarrhea. In his book, Stephen Buhner first suggests that you lower the dose if you have side effects and that they generally subside over time. However, he also says to discontinue use if the diarrhea persists longer than three days. Maybe your body just can't tolerate this herb.

Another thought--have you ever been checked to be sure that you don't have a c. diff infection?

<<<<< 17hens, LymeGoAway, Lymetoo >>>>>,

Thanks for the input and tho'ts... it's probably not the Cats Claw, I stay on really low dose when I take it [ sometimes I am off everything for a week or two] .

An example of what can happen, a year or so back they tried to increase my Metformin, from two times a day to three. had to go back to two a day. my body wont handle it.

With Metformin increase it was immediate and continuous. I've had " IBS " symptoms for years but I think it is more than stress or a mild allergy to something.

I do wonder about yeast and parasite problems, and i notice things are getting worse [including skin rash/sores] now that I am off the L-Lysine temporarily .

Also we are having mold issues in bathroom and laundry area from a leak.

Perhaps it is a combo of problems causing the Diarrhea. It just seems like every time I think it is calming down it hits again, out of nowhere.

Just frustrated right now, it makes me really weary... feels like I am going backwards, and not getting a lot better...

I probably need to get a parasite and C. diff check both, but finances are an issue,as is finding a doctor here [since they wont treat for free, and I can't blame them].

Aw well, maybe some charcoal will help, and the main bummer w/ the diarrhea for me besides weariness, it isn't even helping me lose weight... to bloated... perhaps that is yeast?

Thanks for the input, it gives me some ideas to explore as a way to stop the problem. When finances are better, I can get some more supplements at least.

Meanwhile I rest, and keep liquids going, when we don't need to go somewhere.

Jus' tired Silverwolfi here

Silverwolf,

You don't mention in your post about whether you are taking magnesium.

Diarrhea can deplete your magnesium stores rapidly, which can contribute to the fatigue.

Of course, too much magnesium can cause problems with diarrhea too, so you need to be careful with the supplements. I use topical magnesium oil in addition to the Mag Tab SR's that Dr. B. recommends.

One other thought--I have IBS type issues, too, and fish oil causes huge problems for me.

<<<<< LymeGoAway >>>>>,

I take magnesium, but fairly low dose,Wonder if topical might help...

[I get really horrendous leg cramp/charlie horses if I go more than about three days w/o magnesium].

Free clinic medical overseer put me on the fish oils...and I've been told my dose isn't high enough.

Sometimes I think, even eating anything could give me the diahrrea, but I have to eat as ya know!

I'm just bothered that we cannot figure this out...and the problem can hit w/o warning... not fun when traveling [ to TxC's Dr, appts'3 and a1/2 hours away].

Stress plays some part in it...but there is something I am missing or I could figure out how to stop it,and stop the other side of the 'IBS' issues ,the constipation.

See the constipation when it strikes makes the IC symptoms worse... Lawzy I's a mess [sorry gotta be silly or I'll cry and make my sinuses and chest hurt].

I wonder if I am not getting enough of some of the anti-stress vitamins/supplements.

Used to be,I was taking close to 30 various vitamins and supplements, some daily, some two or three times a week... haven't been able to replace them because of finances.

It was a little better when I could take most of the supplements together [tho' I still had the 'IBS' issues],I had some warning if it was going to hit w/ the run to the restroom.

I am still wondering about other parasite issues and what I might could do w/o much cost.

I do hope it isn't the low dose Cats Claw,or the fish oils making things worse. The cats claw ,Ive been on since the Lyme and Co's were Dx'd in 2006

[ I do take breaks from the sup's/vit's,and usually If I am having a reaction to something I can figure out what in an hour to a few days]...
