My husband has headaches/migraines daily due to his lyme disease. Has anyone found something that really helps with their headaches?

My headaches left after being treated for babesia. Nothing helped before that.

Hi Willo7-- for my babs - the most successful has been over 6 months on Mepron- 2x per day two teaspoons. You have to take fat with it for it to absorb. I also think Byron White may be helping with the babs. Knock on wood, I just stopped, the night sweats that are usually part of babs have stopped and that they do not return. Best to your husband--

IMETREX!

Thank goodness you can buy the generic now. It used to cost me $24 a pill. Now I get nine for $20! You need a prescription.

Before diagnosis I had to take it everyday. The key is to take it as soon as you feel the headache/migraine coming on. Don't wait to see or it is harder to get rid of.

I get 100mg tablets which I cut into smaller pieces to save money.
It is the ONLY thing that affects my headaches. I do not bother with anything over the counter.

I know someone with lupus migraines who thought bats were flying around the room, because the black spots in her vision field were that severe from the migraines. This product helped her enough that she needed less pain medication, and i have used it successfully myself and need zero (I wasn't on pain meds ever, and don't need them).

New Chapter Organics Headache Take Care at healthfood stores, or try www.iherb.com at discount

These herbs contain salycins from which aspirin was made, but counter-balancing constituents in the herbs protect the stomach and in fact, one herb meadowsweet in this formula from which aspirin was once made, is in fact used for ulcers. So this formula will not hurt the stomach.

Best, CI

Execedrin works for me, too. I tried the Immetrex & Relpax but the Execedrin was better for me. Relpax knocked me out & I still had a headache.

I think it's the caffeine in the Execedrin that makes it work so well.

Treating the Bb and Babesia (and Bart) will eventually get rid of this. In the meantime, he should see a headache neurologist for meds for it.

What works for me is a combo of 1/4 of a high dose of Percocet (gives me a small dose at reduced cost), Maxalt MLT wafer or Imitrex shot, and Ibuprofen or extra tylenol. Anything less does't do it.

However, my migraines/headaches have dramatically lessened in intensity and frequency with treatment---after suffering with them for decades!! I no longer need the shots, and often don't need the Maxalt now, which is a miracle!

Transdermal magnesium or IV magnesium is helpful, too. For many with migraines, the Excedrin doesn't do much, ditto natural remedies, unfortunately.

Explore food allergies/sensitivities (esp. dairy and gluten) with an elimination diet.

Feverfew and/or butterbur (Petodolax), vitamin B2, magnesium (ues IV's of Mg can help, but do have side effects such as weakness and depression).

Preventive meds such as Topamax, Zonegran; Depakote; Lamictal (anticonvulsants)

Caffeine. Butalbital. Sometimes codeine and tylenol.

If autoimmunity is relevant, Plaquenil can help.

All the abx and treatments are what is causing my severe headaches.

Hard pain meds made me dazed and feeler sicker.

I think it is the combo of aspirin, tylenol and the zip of caffeine in excedrin migraine that zaps the pain away. I also found that laying down made it worse again. I put a heating pad on my forehead for a bit and it stops it.

Sorry you are in so much pain. God bless and feel better

re: All the abx and treatments are what is causing my severe headaches.

---

I think it has to do with the release of toxins/die-off that causes headaches for some. I know that's what happens to me. They can also be caused by hormones - for women.

If your hormones are out of whack - helping support the liver can help. It's my understanding that the liver has a role in regulating estrogen & maybe other hormones. I'd have to look it up & site exact info, though.

Caffein can help. Everone needs different approaches to these things. Detox can also help. Try looking into liver support & detox with binders to get the toxins out of your system.

I'm not against drugs but sometimes they just cover up the root cause.
