I had a baby almost two weeks ago now and since then I am having a really hard time with symptoms coming back. My pregnancy was good with symptoms almost gone to just a few. Before pregnancy I was about 85% well.

Does anybody have any experience with this and how long did it take to get back on track again? Did you have to change abx? I was on ceftin throughout pregnancy and I am still on it. Waiting on my llmd to call back with abx change.

I am not sure if this my hormones that are making symptoms bad or the strain of child birth on the body.
If anyone has any experince with this you can pm too.
Thanks,
Marcie

Sorry, I don't have any experience.

But, this is what Burrascano says about it on page 21:

"During pregnancy, symptoms generally are mild as the hormonal changes seem to mask many symptoms.

However, post-partum, mothers have a rough time, with a sudden return of all their Lyme symptoms including profound fatigue. Post partum depression can be particularly severe. I always advise help in the home for at least the first month, so adequate rest and time for needed treatments are assured."

So, it sounds like at least the first month could be bad with fatigue, etc.

Congratulations on the baby!

Just remember that even a healthy person has to recuperate from having a baby.

An LLMD suggested that my wife had a delayed post-partum lyme reaction. Her lyme symptoms went crazy after she stopped breast feeding... She also stopped antibiotics when she was done breast feeding.

I'm sorry you're struggling. I hope you feel better soon and congrats on the baby! One thing...I thought docs only used Amoxicillin during pregnancy? I have no experience though of course.

Thanks Seek...I have not talked to you in a while, hope things are going better for you. Ceftin is safe during pregnancy, along with a few others along with amoxicillin.

Congrats! I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. I fear postpartum recovery as well. It sounds like the first month is rough. I have a hx of severe ppd and psychosis, so i am horrorfied!!! I have had a very.difficult pregnancy so far. I was on zith and omnicef, but just switched to bicillin and zith. I am a hurting unit! Good luck i hope it eases up. Being tired isnt going to help so rest when you can.
