Has anyone ever experienced an increase in twitches after eating cashews?
It's not an allergy issue - has been tested both skin and blood.
Any ideas why cashews might trigger twitches?
Thank you for any thoughts.

All the cashews I have looked at ingredients have peanut oil listed. Peanuts are know to get moldy and aggravate auto-immune conditions.
I would avoid cashews and look for a more organic nut... almonds?

Does the peanut oil make them more susceptible to getting moldy or just the peanut itself?

Cashews, particuarly raw ones, are one of the more moldy nuts. If mold is an issue for you, perhaps that is it?

I think its the peanut oil itself.
This is just an educated guess.
I avoid peanuts because of mold problems in most crops.
I avoid cashews because they list peanut oil as an ingredient.

Wow.....good to know.
I looked at the container and sure enough....peanut oil is listed.
My son's twitches came back out of the blue and the only thing I new had changed was I was giving him cashews again.
I stopped the cashews just out of curiosity and the twitches stopped.
Thank you both for your replies - I had no idea mold was an issue with cashews.

That's why we pretty much stick with raw organic almonds. We haven't had a problem with them.
We also get raw organic almond butter which, unfortunately, we've become addicted to. Sooooo goood, and healthy too, that is if you don't eat a half a jar in one sitting.

Another thought to consider...
Cashews have magnesium. In some people magnesium acts the opposite of what it does in others. Some people need more calcium to control muscle spasms/twitches, while others need magnesium.
I am one of a number of people I know who can not use magnesium for muscles. I have to use calcium or my twitching/spasms get much worse.
I hope that made sense. On working from a 1/2 brain tonight.

Peanuts are high in arginine. It aggravates herpes and lyme by increasing nitric oxcide and nk cells. I have a problem with peanut too I also crave them so I have done some research into it. Here a just a few.

You may want to look at other food sensitivities as well.
Even a tablespoon a day of milk is enough to greatly increase twitching for me. I also have sensitivity to gluten and nightshade vegetables. If I avoid these food groups, twitching is greatly reduced but muscle spasms remain.

Yes, plenty of places to get raw cashews at health food stores without peanut oil.
