I have lately (out of nowhere) been retaining water big time. I am bloated all over, but by the end of the day my feet and ankles show it the most. They swell up and become uncomfortable.
Does anyone know what could cause this? It has been happening for about 2 weeks. I haven't really had this problem until now, so it's concerning.
One of my docs put me on pregnenalone and DHEA about 2 months ago, so maybe that's it? I have stopped taking both for a few days, but hasn't seemed to help yet.
Could candida cause this? I am bloated in my stomach as well, which would make sense with candida, but would candida cause swelling or retaining water in other areas of your body?
Any experience with this?
Thank you!! V

If it is the pregnenalone, it will take a lot longer than a few days to notice a difference in the fluid retention.
In a few weeks, you might notice a little weight loss. It could take months to get rid of all of the fluid.
Hormones can definitely cause fluid retention. So, this is a good guess as to the cause.

Thank you all! Good to know that it may take a while with the horomones. I was expecting a faster change, so glad to know that it could still be the cause. I am addressing both issues (incl candida) right now.
Missing, wasn't sure how many probiotics I could take at once. I will up my dose, for sure.
I have cankles, and they hurt! Also makes the toe cramps even worse. Will try anything.
Read something about Dandelion Tea helping with water weight, so trying that as well
Thanks again, V

I have an appt with my primary for the same reason. I noticed before beginning treatment a year ago that above my ankle socks would be a little puffy every day and I just ignored it :0(
But now for the last few months the inside of my knees are puffy and dimpled like cellulite, which is everywhere now that I haven't been able to work out for a year. It's crazy that when I take a warm/hot shower or bath that area inside my knees turns red. Why?
I also think that I could be retaining water in my abdomen. Hopefully my primary can tell me today.

Just got back from primary. Yes, I do have the normal slight swelling from my ankle socks. The areas around the inside of my knees are not water, it's FAT!! I guess I should be glad! I really need to get serious and eat better and do more than walking. I need to join a gym again.

VB: Make sure you're well covered with potassium, probiotics and lots n' lots of water. I go through cycles of this and I can change up to 2 dress sizes, so I feel your pain. The steroids jack up the hormones for a while like TF and Lymetoo suggested. You'll get past it. Praying for you!
