I'm interested in this as well. Are you taking it for Babesia?

Coartem can be used to treat Babesia. I've done several 3 day pulses. It clears my symptoms quickly but the relief does not last. My symptoms come back about 2-3 days after finishing the pulse.

I have taken Coartem twice. It did not really help me either time.

If you do a search, several previous posts should come up that you can read.

I have heard mixed reviews. That it works well, but that it isn't a cure and symptoms will come back. This is what Dr. H (NY) said during the 2010 ILADS conference.

--------------------
Bite date ?
2/10 symptoms began
5/10 dx'd, after 3 months numerous test and doctors

IgM Igenex +/CDC +
+ 23/25, 30, 31, 34, 41, 83/93

Currently on:

Currently at around 95% +/- most days.

It's kind of funny Dr H tells people it doesn't work THEN proceeds to use it. Not good. I'm not sure how to take that.

The first of two times I took it my fatigue improved some 10 days post medication protocol. I felt decent for 10-15 days and crashed. Course #2 provided nothing but suffering w/no benefit. I took Daraprim the second time.

I had to look in my journal because it's been awhile since I've taken coartem. My main symptoms were fatigue, sweats, chills, fluey sick feeling, pressure type headaches, and nausea.

I've had three one week rounds of it. For me.... what I noticed is that it made the Mepron and Zith combo seem to hit me harder. When I mentioned this to my LLMD, he said he's had several patients tell him that.

I'm still on Babs treatment but not this med. I think the jury is still out as to how well it really does work. Some say it does. Others say it may work during the time, but then comes flooding back and others feel nothing.

My first round had me herxing like crazy but the next two really hit me hardest once I went back to the Mepron. Who knows? I say it's probably worth a try.

What works for one of us doesn't another and visa versa. I try to stay opened to trying anything new my LLMD comes up with.

Cathy
