I have neuro lyme too Nicole. All of my testing for coinfections always come back negative. Both LLMDs I have seen say I do not have them. I may spring for Igenix coinfection testing just to be SAFE THOUGH.

Yes it is possible to have Lyme only.
Generally as you take down one infection, it is easier to "seperate" per say
One infections' symptoms versus another.
It is so hard to tell though due to the over lap.
Generally, if you relapse quickly, it is a co-infection.

I have had lyme and co infections for nearly 8 years. Have met dozens of lymies, but only one who went back to a totally normal life. He had lyme only. I'm sure there are others out there who know of those with co's who got back their normal life, unfortunately I don't.

There are many who had lyme and co's and live a normal life. I had a great remission-relapsed because I didn't treat babs enough.
But I will get there again. You have to stick with it.

Rene .. I had Lyme and babesia and I am well. Then there's "TF" and "sixgoofykids."
Nicole .. It is possible, but for those who are chronic and cannot seem to get well, there is most likely a coinfection holding them back. (that wouldn't be you at this point)

I believe I may have none. But then there are non-tick infections like EBV, etc. that can reactivate...

I have EBV also, very high. MD said it was not active in August 2010, before I was diagnosed with Lyme. I always wonder if that is what is holding me back.

In some places babesia is more prevalent. So a person could be infected just with that.
I think the people that only have one infection do not get as sick as we do. If you are on here and you have been treating for over 6 months, you probably have co-infections.
I thought I was one of the lucky ones with lyme only but after three years, I tested positive for Bb, Ehrlichia and babesia duncani.

Actually I think the opposite of Nefferdun -- I think people who only have one infection often get acutely ill and thus get treatment quicker and get well sooner.
I would not rely on just tests to prove or disprove coinfections. If you have been sick for over 6 months then I would probably try a trial of meds specific for babs and bart at the very least regardless of test results.

IMO, very unlikely. I recall a stat that said most ticks carry more than 1 infectious agent. I was thought for at least a year to be lyme infected only. That opinion almost killed me. Get checked for co-infections often.

I don't think it's possible.
Human immune systems harbor all sorts of fun bacterias, viruses, and parasites.
If you have Lyme and Lyme symptoms that means the 'gatekeeper' has opened the door for most of those to come out to play.
Now that doesn't mean you can't keep those infections at bay once you've treated borrelia successfully (although goodluck with that)

I think I just have Lyme - maybe due to being bitten in 1981 on the West coast before ticks here had much of a chance to carry more infections?
