I started taking it yesterday I did 150mg twice a day as prescribed. I did a drug interaction checker today and it said to start with no more than 150 mg a day for the first three days at least and to watch it with xanax.

So now I have a great deal of anxiety I dont want to take the wellburin at all right now and I definitely think I need a xanax. My last wellbutrin dose was 150 mg last night at like 11 at night.

Can I take a xanax? is this a high dosage?

Thanks.

Wellbutrin can make you anxious and agitated so you could be anxious from the Wellbutrin. I know I was when I was on it. Just do the one dose starting tomorrow and taper up.

I think it okay to take the xanax. You could just call your pharmacist to make sure.

I am on 300 mg of Wellbutrin a day. Dr said NO CAFFEINE b/c it is like coffee in the am. I also had a prescription for Atavan which I only took once in awhile... didn't seem to have problems. From what my dr told me, 150mg is a low dose. Good luck!

300 mgs to start with is a lot if you're sensitive to it. I would definitely take a xanax rather than suffer with anxiety. And talk to your doctor as soon as you can. I have used wellbutrin at times in the past succssfully but sometimes it has caused too much anxiety and I've had to stop. It can be useful though. You can get it in dosages as small as 75 mgs (not sustained release though). That might be better to start with. Or just 150 mgs. Talk to your doc. Good luck!

Oh, I did hear that about coffee being contraindicated for wellbutrin.

Also those who take it twice a day or even once when did you take it I take my thyroid pill on empty stomach in morning then abx with breakfast supplements with lunch etc etc. I dont see when I have time to take it in the morning.

Jalama- My LLMD gave it to me for help with quitting smoking, weight loss and anxiety, your saying it can cause anxiety eek! Really??

I'm going down to once a day for a little bit then I will up the dosage.

Thank you all.

I started Wellbutrin after several months of not feeling well, visits to all kinds of drs who told me it was "anxiety" or "in my head"... I spiraled downward, was crying a lot out of frustration and scared of what was going on with me, yet no one could help me. Now that I am being treated for Lyme and feel like I have a dr who is working with me, I will be coming off of the Wellbutrin soon. It is a great drug for depression/anxiety if given the right dose. Mine was too low to start at 100 mg, but slowly worked up to 300 which is perfect (time release). Good luck!

I'm glad to hear it helped and then in general you are feeling better it sounds like.

One last question I'm sorry do you take all 300 mg at once? I know Its a silly question but I had to ask lol Do you take anything else for anxiety? (thats two questions LOL )

Thanks again!

The 300 mg is one pill, taken early morning. I believe it is time release. I have taken Atavan (similar to Xanax) as needed in the past, in combo with the Wellbutrin, but not very much. I have not felt the need to use the Atavan.

onbam-- thank you for this tidbit... I will definitely look it up.
