I started having issues with endometriosis...hmmm, about the same time my wandering pain & fatigue started. The possible connection is another topic - already read on that! I have done every hormone treatment out there in an attepmt to control it. A little over a year ago i had laproscopic surgery that revealed such extensive adhesions the surgeon couldn't remove enough to reveal the implants. A histerectomy was advised, but I had not tried Depo Provera shots yet, so the doctor decided to give that a go. So after the first couple of months things have been great! No period or pelvic pain for over a year. Until I started treating the lyme. My LLMD changed antibiotics from biaxin to ceftin after the first month. The ceftin wiped out my gut floroa and I had to stop and do a week of metronidazole. A week after i finished metro, i had a short 2 day period. Intense cramps and back pain, but no vomiting or passing out. Now my body is having severe cramping and spotting for a couple days every 5-7 days.
So the question is... did the antibiotics make the depo not work. Or did they activate the lyme and it's taking revenge on me while I'm not on abx?
I am headed back to LLMD today to get back on abx.
Any thoughts?

You know what triggered my whole lyme saga? Switching to generic birth control pills. But of course in that moment I thought it was just an allergic reaction to the pill since I had swollen knees and they were itchy. But even when I switched back to the original pill I had symptoms and the list got longer.
I have endometriosis so have been on pills for a very long time to manage my ridiculous periods. It has helped for the most part but some months I do get really bad pain. I also had laparoscopy surgery but I was only in stage 1, so thankfully it was not hard to remove the cysts.
I started Rocephin and Rifampin this summer and was fine but a few weeks ago I got my period which was about a week. I don't get periods since I take the BC pills continously for endo treatment so I thought that was strange. I had the worst fatigue and cramping. My LLMD didn't think it was the Serrapeptase but I stopped those just to be safe since I am using Heparin for my IV doses. Anyway he thinks that because the abx lowers the effectiveness of BC pills I got my period. Weird, since I have been on abx since last October but maybe IV is just more powerful along with Rifampin which does interact most with BC pills out of most abx.

My LLMD's theory is that the severe GI upset caused inflammation that irritated the endo. He said to start my new abx and give it another week. So I guess I'll see what happens!

My symptoms all came out when I began Birth control pills for endometriosis also. Then I found out I had a blood clotting disorder and that is probably the reason for the endometriosis.
However, when I was treating Babesia for 4 months my periods were practically pain free! It was amazing. Then Bartonella started to come back and take over. Suddenly my extremely painful periods, with clots, and lots of achiness and fatigue came back.
Bartonella can cause hypercoagulation and I believe this is what is making my periods so unbearable. I actually take enzymes (like Serrapeptase) to help with this issues. My neurologist is having me try a chinese herbal formula called Stir Field Elixir. I haven't tried it yet but if it works I will let you know. Again, Im not a doctor but I truly believe that Bartonella has a huge part in this. Feel free to PM if you have any questions.
