I am doing IV doxy now, and just went up to 400 mg/day. I'm getting it from Infuserve America, as they are usually cheapest. However, IV doxy is expensive!! (I have no idea why it is so, when it is so cheap orally).
And, since it has to be infused over 4 hours, I have been doing the home-pump balls, so I don't have to be tied to an IV pole for 4 hours/day.
How and where can I order it cheaper? I'm sure it would be cheaper if I ordered it powdered, mixed it myself, and used a bag and a pole. But that's a lot of work and time to be tied to an IV pole every day. And, although I probably could mix it myself, I don't love the fact that it's more of a risk in terms of contamination.
What have others done? After I buy it out of pocket, Infuserve bills my insurance, and so far they have reimbursed me---after a lot of hassling them, as they claim to have not received the claims, process them incorrectly, etc. But this is so expensive, I'm not sure that I will get reimbursed adequately. Thank you!

up. Anybody? I just got a new order at 400 mg/day, and I am in shock at how expensive it is!! It's weird, when oral doxy is so cheap. It's actually up there along with Tigacycline (not quite as expensive, but close)!

Up again. I got my recent order at Infuserve, which is usually the cheapest place to get it already mixed (unless you have it covered by insurance), but this was off the charts expensive!

Try to transfer the RX to your local pharmacy so that they can see if your insurance will cover the vials of doxy. If they don't cover a whole 30 days have them try to run it for 15, 10, or 5 days.
Once you get the vials then you can ship them to Infuserve to be mixed. (UPS 3 day or standard shipping is pretty cheap.)
If your insurance isn't reimbursing you well you may consider paying out of pocket for the vials. Use an RX discount card and ask the pharmacist to check the price of all available generics. You will be surprised by the price differences of the different generic brands.
Hope this works for you.

Does anyone know of a pharmacy to get the vials cheaper? Or the supplies cheaper?
My pharmacy plan won't cover IV or injection meds, so that won't work. I was shocked at the cost of IV doxy. My last order, once I reached the 400 mg dose, was over $2,000 for 3 weeks with NO supplies, except flushes!! I did get it in the home pump balls, as it is a 4-hour daily infusion, so that adds to the cost, but---whew!
Unless I find a cheaper pharmacy for the vials, this is what it is! On the positive side, they are submitting it to major medical, and they do eventually pay (after lots and lots of me bugging them, resubmitting it several times, etc.), but it's never been this high before, so we'll see.
