Hypothetical: If you go into remission for a long time, and then your symptoms come back, this means some strong bacteria survived. So they start replicating and now you have a stronger version of your original infection.
Then if you start treatment again, wont the bugs be resistant this time around, based on the fact that only the strong ones survived before?
I hope this makes sense.
My worst nightmare would be making these bugs stronger and stronger to the point where nothing will help.

I don't really have an answer for you - just some thoughts.
My question would be are you sure it is flare up of old lyme or could it be a new infection?
Also, from what I understand (could be wrong!) if you have dormant lyme in you and you get bitten/re-infected that it could bring the old lyme back out again. Like a lyme party...
I was in remission for a long time - though never 100% - I was off abx.s for a couple of years and then got sick again. I don't know if was some old stuff or a new infection but either way I did very well on a different protocol then I had been on prior. Now I am off abx.s again and doing pretty well.
I have the same fears...

Same fears here... I always wonder what will set me off, if/when the Lyme were to flare again. I know there is not cure, just remission and I am always wondering every time I feel an ache or a little more tired, or nauseous...is this it again? It sucks.

I think the biofilms hide the lyme, and they come out again when the "coast is clear"
They are just realizing you have to treat the biofilms and cysts to stay in remission.
