Hello, Wow, I am scared. I have been suffering with symptoms for approximately 5 months, and was just recently diagnoised.. However, two of my tests came back positive and one negative??? what does that mean? I have been put on dox. dosage twice a day. But, now I am experiencing weird tingling in hands and sometimes my nose! or my left arm feels asleep. Is it gettinng worst? I am looking for a specialist. I am trying to be as proactive as possible and get my live back. I am a full time mom of 5 year old twin boys and I want to play tag again I am so frustrated and don't know where to begin. Any advice, help or imput would be greatly appreciated.

Can you be more specific as far as what tests came back positive and negative?
Looking for a specialist is a good thing... I hope that you follow through with that and find a good LLMD (lyme Literate medical Doctor)
I also have those symptoms. Symptoms with Lyme will change. They don't stay the same.
And while on antibiotics its possible that the symptoms may get worse... its a sign that it is working.... however you normally need more than just one type of antibiotic to cure lyme.
I'm new to Lyme as well. I just started treatment a little over 2 1/2 weeks ago. This board is a wealth of knowledge.
BTW, I understand the frustration... I'm a single mom, my son is 9, and daughter is 5... Yes it sucks. I'm happy at this point that I finally have the diagnosis and am now able to work on finding my road to a cure

Hello, sorry to hear you are not feeling well but its great that you have a diagnosis. The worsening of your symptoms, such as the tingling, is from a Jarisch Herxheimer reaction. Basically it means that the antibiotics are killing the bacteria and the die-off is causing your symptoms to be worse.
It is often used as a diagnostic tool when tests come back negative. It means you are on the right track!
Make sure you take plenty of probiotics while on antibiotics. Get a good quality probiotic blend at a health food store and take it 3 times per day before meals. This will prevent yeast infections and thrush.
And yes, it would be worthwhile to get to a specialist. Also, start educating yourself and rest, take really good care of yourself. Limit sugar and carbohydrates. Drink tons of water to flush out the dead bacteria and toxins. Listen to your body.
Good luck!

I want to say so sorry for what brought you here, but welcome you to the board. I have found so much support, answers, and wonderful insight from the other people here. I am a mom also of a teenager and a toddler, so I know the demands of being a mother and having a chronic illness. Be sure to take time for yourself, in whatever way you can. It will be crucial in order for you to get better. You will probably get worse before you get better, unfortunately.
I have learned that it is crucial to get a Lyme Literate doctor. I emailed ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) and asked for a list of doctors in my area, and they sent me a few names. I called all of them, and found one that seemed to fit what I was looking for. I did this immediately after I was diagnosed and am sure was one of the best decisions I could have made.
Lyme is a very complicated disease, but you are lucky that you have only been suffering for a short time. 5 months is not very long, I had it 13 years before my diagnosis, and often means a shorter road to health.
As a mom, one of the best things you can do is forgive yourself for getting sick. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I felt so much guilt for not being able to do the things for and with my children that I used to. I am not and cannot be the mother I want to be. But I am learning to accept what I CAN do, and forgive myself for everything else.
My 3 year old watches WAY too much TV. Most days there is nothing else I can do, but lie in bed and watch the tube. We put a futon in the living room, so I have a bed upstairs in my room, and downstairs in the living room. I hate that she watches any tv, and it was really getting me down. But then I realized that at least she was watching it WITH me. It is something we can do together. So I forgave myself.
I now allow myself to be sick, and the family has adjusted. It breaks my heart, but now she does not remember me any other way. It is a matter of coming up with a "new set of normals", as I call it. I have gotten games that I can do with her that require little energy. I have a wonderful group of friends who are always around to pick her up and take her to do things.
I am so sorry that you have gotten this diagnosis, but at least now you have somewhere to start. I am sure many others will share with you. I am just sharing some of the things that were/are my most difficult challenges as a mom. Feel free to send me a private message if you ever need some encouragement.

YOu need to find an LLMD (Lyme LIterate MD) so you can ensure you get well. I suggest you find one in "seeking a doctor" of this website. Or you can contact the "Lyme Disease Association" or www.ilads.org
I also recommend seeing the 2009 Oscar-nominated documentary film on lyme called "Under Our Skin" It is available on demand from most cable systems, via Netflix and iTunes.
