We all have a similar story of being misdiagnosed and winding up chronically ill. Nothing much we can do about that.
But after starting Mepron/zithro last November, I had what was later determined to be indigestion (irritation of the vegas nerve) which took me stupidly in the ER.
Although I felt fine once arriving at the hospital, the attending doctor decided I was in heart failure and insisted on keeping me there all night for a stress test the next day.
Long story short, the bill is over $14,000. I have a deductable on my insurance of 10K and so far it only covers one thousand of this additional bill.
As the EKG was normal, my blood work normal and I did not want to stay - I was basically lied to because my heart was fine - I am trying to get an attorney to write the hospital to have the bill reduced.
Guess what? 4 of the firms I have called are on retainers with the hospital and the other one is not returning my call - probably on a retainer as well.
Isn't this crazy? We are screwed. This hospital misdiagnosed me 5 times. I told their doctors over and over that I was bitten by a tick, had a strange "thing" on my arm and I thought it had given me something. Each and every doctor told me "no lyme disease in Montana". I never mentioned lyme - I was just a classic case of it.
