I have had some thyroid tests that have shown that my thyroid levels are high but then sometimes they are low. Is there anything that could explain this. I asked my doctor if I should be on thyroid meds, and he said "no not according to the tests". It always tends to be on the low side, but then sometimes it has been slightly on the high side. strange. Is there any supplement that is safe to take and good for this thyroid problem?

High potency iodine (iodoral 12.5mg) is great for the thyroid. My LLMD says iodine also kills bacteria so it's a great supplement when treating Lyme. I've be taking 4 a day for six months. Previously my thyroid was sensitive to touch and now its much improved along with my Lyme symptoms. Incidentally, I never had thyroid problems until contracting Lyme.

On a recent visit with my LLMD I asked him which supplements I should continue taking if I become symptom free. Iodine was one he recommended to take for life, but just one a day instead of 4. Most people are iodine deficient and its very important for maintaining thyroid health.

It's hard to find in stores so I buy online or from my doc. Be advised that it is challenging to find at the moment because of Japan. I just reordered but had to visit several online stores because most were sold out.

Good luck!

Sea vegetation is a great source of iodine as well as many other nutrients that are very supportive to the thyroid gland.

Selenium is also needed by the thyroid gland, for conversion of thyroid hormones (from one form to another...can't remember the details).
