Amantadine helps fatigue and makes me more alert. When paired with a macrolide antibiotic I personally herxed longer and stronger. I have never hallucinated although everybody is different. Wish you the best.

Take care,

Lu

Amantadine is a must with Biaxin. It raises cellular PH and makes the Biaxin more effective against hte lyme. Plaquenil does this too, but my LLMD likes Amatadine better.

I was on it for about 8 months. No issues, other than the first week was a bit wierd feeling...then normal.

Yes. My LLMD said it would take about a week to get used to the drug. She was right. After about a week..I felt fine.

when The Lyme was at its most intense, I was hallucinating regularly. I would brave the side effects in the short term for the long term bennefits if you think you can handle it. Can you find out what the percentage was of those who experienced hallucinations? It could be a very small likelihood.

Yes, I agree with lymeboy, it must be a very small percentage. This drug mainly makes me lightheaded, dizzy and extremely tired.Hope it goes away after a few days like bcb1200. Thank you for your responses!

I stopped Amantadine because gave me unbearable ringing in the ears. I didnt know this medicine was ototoxic. I stopped it and I'm back to normal, still tired though. Now I'll start with Artemisinin and GPE. I will start sauna very soon too. Everything to get rid of these bugs without killing me as well.
