Is Bactrim alone a treatment for Bartonella or does it need to be combined with something else?
Also, if Bactrim alone worked for you..how long did it take?

Thanks Hambone! Im hoping someone has a hopeful answer. I'd like to speed up the treatment, as we all would. I think yeast is starting to get the best of me.

In people with normal immune system it does. Some people in the forum claim it did for them to .
But to be honest no one can tell you for sure .
Not just bart but all infections depend on our immunity to do the job to .
Bactrim is one of the drugs that is bactericid (kills bacteria)on the bacteria that has effectand is used to kill.
Alot of other drugs that we use are bacteriostatic (just dont let bacteria to grow so immunity has to kill what is live in your body )like Doxycycline zythromax, biaxin.

I used bactrim with zithro/biaxin for almost a year. I don't know if using it alone will work as well. I moved on to treating babesia when my bart symptoms diminished.
You need to take something to control the yeast. I have found Diflucan works really well and taking it once a week keeps me from getting yeast. Diflucan is also effective against Bb.

Thank you. I really didn't want to be on yet another drug daily, but if I can take the Diflucan once a week that would be easier. I just can't do so many drugs, too much for anyBODY to handle.
I am on Mepron/Art for Babs and I also should start taking Bactrim. I'm hoping it hits Bart so I can get those 2 infections down and then sweep up the Lyme.
As far as immunity finishing up the infections...I don't know how my immune system is functioning. If I got this sick in the first place how can I know if its functioning or not? Also, taking all these antibiotics only hinders the immune system. So confusing.
