Ok, all you health geniuses - anyone able to treat for severe breast pain? I've been checked out medically for any problems and they can't find any.
It's one side - the left, very sore nipple, entire breast and underarm pain. Been developing for a couple weeks.
I'm assuming it's another Lyme symptom, and if so, how can we alleviate it? Thx -

Maybe related to swollen lymph nodes.
Maybe a lymph massage?
Sore, aching breasts are one of my Lyme symptoms too.
Aleve seems to help me some.

I am sorry you are going through this. From experience I know this is one of the worst things that you can feel.
I suffered for about 20 years with identical symptoms to yours. My LLMD uggested it was Bartonella-related. There were times that I wanted to kill myself it was so painful.
After starting abx I noticed significant improvement. It has been a year and a half now and I only have occasional problems.
Approximately three months ago my LLMD added liver detox supplements and that is when most of the residual breast pain disappeared.
I hope you find some relief. Please feel free to PM if you want specifics on my abx and liver detox regime.

Caffeine can cause breast pain. If you are drinking a lot of caffeine, cut down and see if it helps.
Also, evening primrose oil helps reduce breat pain. I had it for years, my breast surgeon told me to try it, and it worked like a charm. Took 500 mg capsules 2 x per day.Worth every penny. It took about a month to kick in, I stopped it after 7 more, hasn't been a problem since.
Good luck

I am only 20 and have the EXACT same thing. Its Bart related.
For me, I had breast pain, underarm pain, sternum pain, chest pain and everything. I thought I was having a heart attack. My husband and my mom thought since I had sore breast all the time that I was pregnant, but nope, my llnd said is was Bart.
What worked for me is NO CAFFEINE!
Drink lots of herbal tea. Also, take baths with lots of Esplom salt. Also, lower the salt intake with diet.
Also, take supplements and probiotics. Liver support is great also!
Good luck!

I had the same thing before treatment. They even thought I had mastitis and I was not berate feeding at that time. Everytime I went on antibiotics it would help my breast pain. I had no idea I had Lyme back then.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this but I find it interesting that others have this also.
My experience sounds like mcg. I have it mostly on the left side. It became really bad after an injection of abx (before I knew I had Lyme). I developed huge lumps and severe pain, also in my groin area. I immediately went for a Mammogram. It did not show anything.
I did eventually have an abnormal biopsy in the breast (not cancer). They want to go in and cut out a portion to be sure there is no cancer. I'm quite certain that it is related to this disease.
Thanks mcg - take away my last pleasure in life - coffee, occasionally Just kidding. I know that I need to stop.
I will also try the primrose after I scale down on some of my sups.
Thanks for this helpful post!

Not sure it's what you have, but fibrocystic breasts are quite common with Lyme. Also ovarian cysts seem to be a common occurrence as well. I've had 2 doctors over the past 10 years tell me that I had a lump in my breast, when I knew that I didn't and it was just the tissue that felt lumpy. Subsequent mammograms have shown that I was right.
I agree that Caffeine can make the pain worse, but for the most part I live with it.. I just got used to it like the chest and sternum pain that I have.

Thx all for your feedback. Thinking about a possible lymph node congestion, just did hot shower, massaging and stretching - the easy experiment. Any more comments welcome.

Haley-mine was not cancerous . I was diagnosed with fibrocystic breast disease. My surgeon checks me every six months.

Ladies, please get to know your breasts.. what is normal and what isn't. Don't always count on doctors to tell you what they think is normal for you. Always question any type of surgery. Fibrocystic breasts are very common. They may be uncomfortable but they are normal. I've had them since I've had breasts.lol..
Sure, have the necessary testing to rule out anything sinister, but always get a second opinion about surgery.

I as well have this symptom. I didn't know it was Lyme at first, and then it just kind of disappeared to return with a vengence a few years later. I thought for sure I would end up with breast cancer when I felt a lump since it runs in my family.
Pretty sure it's fibrocystic breasts-probably from the Lyme since I haven't had any issues until the possible bite years ago.
I will ask about this and being Bart related when I go see my new LLMD.

Thx for the discussion on breast health, everyone -
I've been thinking about the situation - I usually lie on my left side to sleep, which would mean circulation would be reduced on that side. And we all know Bb likes low oxygen areas, and then lymph nodes also wouldn't drain as easily.
So I want to ask, for those who experience breast pain, or even sided pain, do you tend to lie on that side for sleeping? If so, that might explain why we experience symptoms on a particular side.

I know this is going to sound really strange, but I also get severe breast pain and have fibrocystic breasts and
what I have found that works wonders is to take regular iodine and put a small amount on a cotton ball. Rub a quarter size amount on each breast at night (I do it on the side or bottom). By morning, my pain is always either gone or greatly reduced.
I read about this a long time ago on a woman to woman website (I can try to find it again if you want) and gave it a shot and was really surprised by the results. I've been doing this for over a year now.

Topical (meaning used on the skin, not taken by mouth) iodine can be bought over the counter in the grocery or drugstore, usually for less than a dollar. Apply it in a quarter-sized area once a night on the breast until the brown spot persists overnight, or for one month. I will admit I cannot explain exactly how this works, but the iodine seems to adjust the hormones just enough to keep the swelling down, or perhaps it is treating some subclinical virus or bacteria. Most of our diets today do not have the same amount of iodine in them that our ancestors' did. This use of iodine does not seem to impair thyroid function.

Robin, a thermagram can show the exact area (it will be a white spot)and then you can rub about four drops of Lugols Iodine in the breast at night - it kills any kind of bacteria. You need to do it over a longer time period.

I agree with "mcg" too. Mine was all Bart related and went away with abx tx. I had the same pain= breast, underarm, chest and even back pain.

I have had issues with FBD and have found that cutting out caffeine and taking Iodoral supplements really helps.
My old LLMD suggested this for my hypothyroidism as did my holistic thyroid doctor. It has grown in popularity because it can help those with a poorly functioning thyroid to lose weight.
I can not get past taking one 12.5 mg tablet. My saliva glands blow up. I also have sarcoidosis.

Carol, I do actually have one of those single-light LED units - I think I broke the 3-light one. And I know it comes in multiple light units too.
Have you used the LED units before and did they help you?

I've read that in Japan, people have diets high in iodine. The incidence of breast cancer is quite low there.
The iodine would have a positive impact on the thyroid.

Epsom salt soaks may help too. E is good too.
Have not tried the iodine, but it makes sense.
Test spot first...
You should have a mammogram just to be sure it is not something worse...
Take something for pain first....

I was just dx'ed with fibrocystic breasts. I am only 29 and all of this heavy, thick feeling tissue and CONSTANT pain only began when I got sick in July.
I am wondering - has anyone had this and had it go away with treatment? Not only have the pain go away, but also the lumpy, thick, hard feeling breasts. Not pleasant
Thanks everyone!

Robin, you need Lugols iodine - rub morning and night on the breast, start with four drops and if you tolerate it, you can take up to nine - every person is different.
You need to do it for weeks, iodine kills all germs.

Mine was lymph not moving. Pekana lymph drainage and Donna Eden massage got things moving for me. I had extreme breast pain and in arm pit. It was scary and I was being watched closely.
Lumps even showed up on ultrasound. Now gone.

Just noticed this got brought back up - the breast pain I had was very severe for a month or two.
As usual, when checked out medically, could find nothing. Then it subsided to nothing. One of those symptoms that come and go. Still confusing to me.
Thanks to all who are posting about remedies. Next time, will check back here for what to try.
Lymetoo's comment about japan is very ironic in hindsight...

Rebounding on a mini trampoline is good for lymph drainage. Don't have a problem with my breasts but it may help. Pain in the breasts could be from bras with underwires, too. I can't wear them.

I had breast aches in the left breast for about a year.
I've mostly stopped them by taking Indole-3-carbinol, (1 pill ,@ 3 meals a day), and Broccoli Sprout pills (Source Naturals brand, 8 or 10 pills at every meal).
When i was taking 4 Brocc sprout pills, there was improvement but not a cure, so i went to 6 pills (per meal) which produced more improvement, so i increased to 8 pills per meal, which mostly worked.
I ran out of Indole-3-carbinol pills for a month and got increased symptoms, which disapeared when i resumed them.
I have fibrocystic breasts, but taking Iodoral pills (12.5 mg per day), smoothed out the breast area; however, the above-breast areas are still quite lumpy. I tried increasing the Iodoral dose, but got negative symptoms after a week.
I have suspected an infectious cause. I'm so glad to hear of all these treatments, thanks!
