LLMD thinks Mepron has stopped working since sweating night and day. She said another doctor is having good results with pulsing malarone and artemisinin....taking 5 days on, 5 off with Zith and Bactrim DS daily.

I am terrified of pulsing Malarone and told her so! She said just trust her and try it. Is it time to move on? LLMD said if symptoms get worse, then I can take it 10 days on, 2 off or 1 month on, 1 week off.

LLMD is really a great person and says she talks with Dr. B on occasion. I know she has not trained with him though. This is my 3rd LLMD and I am really out of choices and money.

Can anyone recommend anything to eradicate duncani? Will a-babs work?

I am on almost the exact same abx regime and started Malarone and artemisinin on a 5 day pulsing today. How much artemisinin are you taking?

My LLMD is in NC and says she has had success with this in treating babs.

I am curious, why are you worried? Have you had bad experiences pulsing, or are you worried of further relaps?

SScott.. I send you a PM.

I am supposed to take 400mg Art twice daily on the 5-day pulse...doesn't that sound like a large dose?

Hi Beths,

Do you still see Dr. S. in MD that wrote the book? If so, then I feel much better about trying the combo.

So, you took malarone with zith one week, off next, and repeat? I will be doing 5 days on, 5 off but taking Zith and Bactrim DS daily.

Thanks so much for your help.

Yes-it was Dr S. But I took malarone/zith for 1 week, then the next week I took bactrim/zith.

Did this get you well? I feel better knowing that Dr. S does this.

I will ask about doing the week schedule also...easier to keep up with.
