I continue to sweat...day and night each day. Does this mean Mepron is no longer working? I increased to 2 tsp. twice daily 2-1/2 weeks ago.
I do herx, but am also treating parasites..can't tell difference between babs herx and parasite herx.
If I switch to Malarone, what dosage would equal 2 tsp. Mepron?
Anyone else sweat continuously while on Mepron?

How long have you been on Mepron? You may be herxing since you incresed the dose 2 1/2 weeks ago (some people herx every three weeks or so when taking Mepron).
I had sweats for a long time when I took Mepron.

Do you know if you have B.microti or B.duncani?
I do know someone who would sweat continuously during Babesia treatment. I think she has B.duncani. She is improving, but has been on Mepron combos for almost 2 years. She's now trying Clindamycin and herbs.

I have duncani. OMG! Hate to hear someone has been treating it for 2 years.
I was on Mepron 7 months...thought I was better because no symptoms for 4 months. Was off 3 weeks and relapsed. Been back on Mepron for 3 months, but only increased dosage 2-1/2 weeks ago.
After relapse, sweats stopped after 10 days, but came back about 2 weeks later and been sweating ever since.
Thanks!

I have babesia microti and I have been getting treated since sept 2010, and still have horrible drenching sweats. I think it is because the prior LLMD that was treating me until this month pulsed mepron. I left him to find a doctor who took babesia a little more seriously. It's been my worst symptom since last august.

The same thing has happened to me, but I don't know what infection it is. After clearing the sweats with babs treatment, they came back, while I was still treating.
I'm treating yeast now (after mepron, bactrim, art, and lariam) and my sweats are once again gone. I think Mepron can cause yeast issues.

I have been treating B duncani since late November 2010 using Mepron/zithro, pulsing artemisinin and now artesunate four days a week.
I was pulsing tindamax two days a week but I recently added plaquenil to try to hit it harder. It seems to be helping. I have an appointment with the GP the end of this month and will work out another plan.
I have improved a lot but I still have hot flashes and mild sweating. I also have no stamina; breathless climbing a flight of stairs. I do not believe Mepron is strong enough to take out duncani especially when taken at just one teaspoon twice a day, which is what the LLMD insisted on.
I am going to switch to malarone after a course of coartem. I think I may switch meds around more often so it does not have a chance to build resistance. There is also primaquine and chloroquine.
I was not sure if increased hot flashes was a herx or just relapsing. So hard to tell.

Has anyone heard that higher doses of malarone/art are better for ducani?
