I am having some digestive problems, i get gas pain where gas gets trapped in my intestines and just sort of moves around. Anyone else with this? i took an antibiotic called Rifaxin for this when a gastroenterologist said i had some bacterial overgrowth, im wondering if its related to lyme or coinfections and what i should do about it

I would be cautious on using Rifaxin as it also is known to kill of the good bacteria in the gut as well. I found that VSL#3 helps alot. It is a very potent probiotic.
I hope you feel better.

I get it so bad, that at the end of the night I can look like I am pregnant. There are certain foods that will cause it with me. But, even when I behave, I still have issues.
Some of this is to be expected with me because I have had gastric bypass surgery. I know that I have malabsorption of nutrients.
I have no idea how much is lyme vs gastric bypass sypmtoms.
But, I can say that since I started abx, that my intestinal issues have improved, I still have issues... but there has been definite improvement.

I'm having lots of trouble with this now too. I'm on Ceftin and Malarone at the moment, and I take at least 3 probiotics a day.
Of course, my paranoia creeps in and I start thinking horrible things like I have ovarian cancer or intestinal cancer or an aneurysm (because the pain can be around my sternum area).
I try not to let my stomach get too empty because that seems to worsen it.

-- If it's not yeast, I'll eat my hat!!! I fell for that from my GI doctor 8-9 months ago and am still paying for my stupidity. It cleaned out all the good bacteria I ever THOUGHT I had in my gut. (and I was lacking in that area already)
I am just now beginning to gain ground on the Yeast overgrowth Rifaximin caused.

- Exactly. I've been taking VSL#3 DS for more than SIX months now along with Diflucan and Nystatin. I'm still mad about it.
