I know two Lyme patients who have had several spells where they fall asleep and no one can wake them for a while. One friend calls it a Lyme coma. It doesn't fit the description of narcolepsy, though it has similarities.

The other person had it hit her while driving. She felt it coming on, pulled off the road and called her husband who came to her aid.

Has anyone else had this happen?
Is it Lyme or one of the co-infections?
Any information or opinions would be appreciated.

I have something similar, related to the partial seizures I experience with Lyme. It's common after a seizure to fall into a deep sleep, which in suddenness and depth sounds similar to what you're describing.

However, I'm not a physician. I would suggest your friend speak with a LL Neurologist.

Sick for years and never had this till all of a sudden.

Went from severe insomnia and sleeping little cat naps on and off to now abruptly passing out so hard that i do not know i am even hurting myself as i lay in positions cutting off circulation or just on top of my hands or something and wake up in a daze and pain.

Also just all of a sudden dropping off at different times of the day such as described and has happened to me while driving too where I had to pull of the road. I had nobody to get me and i did just pass out there and a few hours later woke up. Scary.

I have no idea what it means and why I shifted from one extreme to the other after all this time. In one way for me i feel glad to be able to actually be out for periods of time because insomnia can drill on you so badly that this is like a relief. But i know it is not healthy and also safe and also not the right kind of sleep either.

So who knows.

Will tell my friend that she and the other Lyme patient are not the only ones that experience this.
Thanks for sharing your info.
