Hello Lymenet Friends,

I just thought of something last night, and I wonder if this happens to any of you. When I would read about some people's Lyme symptoms being unilateral, I always thought that did not refer to me, because my joint pain and fatigue and all over flu-like body aches do not discriminate to one side of my body or the other.

However, I started thinking about OTHER symptoms last night, and the light bulb went off, and I started thinking about three main symptoms and realized they are all on the right side of my body!

I get the rash, most often, on the inside of my right arm, between my wrist and my elbow, I get the ankle pain and swelling in the right ankle, and my migraines always begin with an aura, followed by numbness followed by pain...out of my RIGHT eye!

I am just curious if this means anything or if others experience this, and if so, what could it mean? I am just curious about so many things, lately, lol.

Best Wishes,

Hope

Its interesting how some symptoms can stay on one side. My Lyme symptoms are on my left and thats the side that I always had problems with my eye, wrist, and shoulder pain. Now that I started treating Babesia I am getting just right sided symptoms! So weird.

I get tingling in my right leg and twitching in my right hand. I think that this is my Bartonella symptoms coming forward. I have no proof just my thoughts.

My Lyme symptoms were also unilateral, Jamers. All on the right side. That has continued since I started treatment in 2005.

Now, most of my symptoms are minimal, and I'm able to go back to work. But I will say that when something acts up, it's still on my right side.

Not sure this helps, but at least you can see you're not alone.

Yes, Andie, I was just kind of curious about this. Because I was thinking that, for me at least, my symptoms were just "all over the place," and last night my right ankle started swelling again (I get this symptom on and off) and it made me think about this.

I am going to start a symptom tracker today. I started one long ago, then forgot about it. I should have been doing this all along, but better late than ever, I guess. A daily diary, of sorts. I did this when I first started getting my migraines, and it did help to see a pattern, although I was never able to I.D. many triggers.

Some very wise words on the topic from the amazing Marnie:

From an old MS word file, so I don't know if the link still works...

"Trace mineral symptoms of excess or deficiency are generally one-sided, depending on their ratios to other chemical members, and depending which group they are neurologically assigned to.

In the event of calcification, it is not a high calcium level that results in the formation of a stone or spur, but calcium
being high in ratio to associated or interactive elements.

For instance, phosphorus and zinc have both left-sided cell receptors, so if either level is low in ratio to calcium, calcification would only take place on the left side of the body, whereas the cell receptors of manganese or magnesium are right-sided, as a result, any calcification would develop on the right side of the body only.

The same rules apply to most nutrition-related inflammatory or degenerative conditions, so successful,non-symptomatic treatments require the application of those same principles.

Since intracellular and
serum levels of nutrients represent different physiological and pathological processes, abnormal levels seen in one medium are not necessarily reflected in the other, so they need to be interpreted differently."
