VSL #3, even better VSL DS (the prescription version if you have insurance).
Also Jarrow Formula Saccharomyces Boulardii (1 x day w/ probiotic) to keep the C. Difficile demons at bay.

VSL#3 DS is cheap if you have insurance. I pay $27 a month.
The regular VSL is $52 a bottle but contains 215 billion CFU's in every two pills. You could take one a day and save money. Each bottle is 60 capsules. Good deal!
Theralac is about $45 a bottle. Thirty pills. Could get by with one .. unless you are having yeast problems, then two.

The VSL3 is kind of pricey, about $50/bottle. Is that what I should expect to pay for a probiotic?

Hi Lymetutu! I got the VSL#3 but I'm not sure if I should take 2 or 1 (I do have yeast problems).
I don't know if this is related, but my ears have been hurting me the past couple of days (ever since I got the VSL). It's actually a shooting pain under my jawline below the ear. sinus infection maybe? How can I get a sinus infection while on abx? I just don't know.

Look again at what I wrote, thomas. If you take one a day, it lasts 2 months.
Mindy... maybe it's yeast related. Perhaps some die-off going on. And since you're having trouble .. take two a day.
oh... maybe take one a day for awhile in case you are getting die-off symptoms. Then up it.

I agree with Lymetoo, VSL#3 is the best probiotic you can buy.
It has been tested and proven to work. Check out the research and support on the VSL website.
Good multi-strain probiotics are going to cost you approx $30-$50+ per bottle. Typical probiotics can contain 1billion-30billion CFU per capsule. VSL#3 contains 112.5 billion per capsule. If you chose a different brand you will have to take multiple capsules to equal the CFU's of 1 VSL. Cost can add up quickly.
Probiotics are something you don't want to skimp on when taking antibiotics. Antibiotics wipe out our good gut flora. We need the probiotics to help replace what was lost. They support our immune system, digest foods, provide vitamins, and help prevent secondary infections like c.diff and yeast.
