I was bitten by a tick (supposedly a dog tick and not a deer tick) but the bite became quite red and swollen (no bullseye rash). However, my GP put me on 200 mg daily of Doxycycline just in case. Since then I've had very bad pain in my neck and the top of my shoulders which went away in a couple of days and now my arms are covered in a rash. My doctor now wants me to see an Infectious Disease Specialist. I'm not sure what to do at this point, however, I know that taking the antibiotics soon after the bite is important and I did that, but are 200 mg daily enough? Anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks.

If you want to get rid of it, take 200mg of doxy twice a day.

Inf Disease will only treat you for one month .. if you're lucky. Then what??

An Infectios Disease Docor usually doesn't believe in Lyme disease but you may need to make sure you don't have another tick disease.

A LLMD -lyme literate doc -is the best bet...post in the "seeking doctor" page for llmd names

Also
Go to http://www.ilads.org/

Go to the About Lyme Tab ..check out the treatment guidelines

scroll down to the Dr. B guidelines...

200mg 2X day is the recommended dosage
