I know that bacteria can build up a resistance to specific antibiotics.
But can the same thing happen with herbs? I take all the Buhner herbs,as well as Samento and Banderol along with ABX and intend to do so for the 8 to 10 months that Buhner recommends. However, I'm concerned that resistance can develop and perhaps I should be rotating protocols. Has anyone taken a particular herbal protocol for a long time and have it continue to be effective? Or does anyone know if the herbs are complex enough that the bacteria does not ever develop resistance?
Thanks. Sue

Rotating / pulsing is a must for some treatments, I think. Bacteria definitely build resistance to herbs although some people say it is harder since the herbs are more broad-spectrum. I took Cumanda for a while and for the first 2 weeks it was amazing and after that it did nothing. I think many top docs now are rotating / pulsing.

Wow--it stopped working in 2 weeks? It usually takes me more that 2 weeks to stop feeling awful from whatever new thing my doctor has prescribed. I read that the Cowden protocol rotates on an 78 day cycle. But Buhner suggests his core protocol for 8 to 12 months, and he really does seem like a very reliable source. My LLMD has had me on azithromycin for 3 months, then switched me to Flagyl(in month 2 now) and clindamycin(1 month), so I guess he's rotating me. I'll have to ask him about how I should be rotating the herbs. Hoping 3 months or so, so I can have a few weeks of feeling good. What can I alternate for Samento? What about knotweed and andrographis?
