Hi all, My doctor wants to stop all meds and supplements for 2 weeks starting next week. This is just to verify if I still have an active infection or not.
Here is a symptom list that I have had this month:
1. Random pokes and prods in muscles - on 5 days this month 2. Cheek numbness - on 3 days this month 3. Calf muscle weakness - once this month.
My energy levels are good and I am able to work out 3-4 times per week.
Is 2 weeks enough to be off abx to really tell whether the disease is coming back?
Thanks!!

For me 2 weeks was more than enough. I was falling apart by then... the pain was so intense!
If you still have symptoms why are you checking I'm confused.

If those are the only symptoms, I would be willing to go off meds. If you have coinfections, you would know within two weeks. Lyme would take longer to come back.
How long were you ill? How long were you treated? Have you been pretty much symptom free for several months now?

lymetoo, I was ill for about 3 months when I started treating. I have treated for 9 months now.
I have not been symptom-free for several months. I have had about 17 symptom-free days in this month. I had a similar number of symptom-free days in April and May too.
Scorpiogirl, since I am hypothyroid too (TSH = 4.6), the doctor wants to see if some of these neuro symptoms are caused by that.
Also to check whether there's an active infection - if symptoms worsen, we know we still need to treat.

I would take 2 weeks off at your point in treatment. It could take longer than that to know whether or not you will relapse.
Just be very attentive. And take all symptoms seriously.
