Hello Friends,

I have been wondering about this for some time now. I see that "increased urination" is always listed as a symptom of Lyme, even on the "short lists." I definitely have this symptom, like never before, but I research, and I cannot find out WHY this might be?

One, I know I drink a TON of water each day, but I have always have. Two, I sometimes wonder if it is at all related to a surgery I had in December, which was to remove a uracheal (sp?) cyst above the bladder, but I read that MANY have the symptom of increased urination.

Seems like every time I stand up from sitting or lying down....yup!....I have to go, and RIGHT NOW! lol Also, it used to be SO rare for me to have to get up and go in the middle of the night, and now I must do so more frequently.

I still wonder....what, about Lyme, actually causes this symptom that seems all too common?

I am just curious, because I certainly gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now more often than not, lol.

It can cause Interstitial Cystitis .. so that would be a big reason!!

Also, my LLMD said Lyme loves the bladder. Nice comfy place to hang out.

Hi Lymetoo!

I am not familiar with "interstitial cystitis." I can see why Lyme would love the bladder. Reminds of Eva Sapi's description when saying Lyme likes the brain, because it is a "juicy organ." That really freaked me out when I first heard it. Gave me the creeps for some reason. I know Lyme is swirling around in my "juicy brain" these days. So, why not the bladder, too?

Bartonella also irritates the bladder giving you the feeling that you need to go all the time.

I used to get up very often with needing to go in the night and more than once. That sx disappeared about 5 years ago?

My drink of choice became water 10 yrs ago. It is still drink of choice today. I don't know why this sx creased other than some of my lyme sx have left only to be replaced by other sx that aren't lyme related but other infections.

Lyme is still with me but it's not the bacteria in control most days. Lyme only gets control during knocking bartonella down or during the lyme cycle.

Bart has been in control since '05 with me. Bart or some other bacteria has taken over my UT the 18 mths with pain and infections. Maybe lyme is living there again?

I only wish someone could give me answers too.

Unsweetened cranberry juice or cranberry capsules may help with this. I had this problem with getting constant UTI's in college (way before I knew I had Lyme) and cranberry juice was the only thing that helped. Caution: If you have IC, the acids in cranberry may cause burning pain.

I used to get constant UTIs as well. I first started with unsweetened cranberry juice, but found that it tends to aggravate yeast for me. I switched to the Cranberry capsules by Nature's Way and they don't seem to for some reason. I'll take 4 capsules 3 times a day at the first sign of pain. You have to catch the UTI early, though, or else I've found that the cranberry just isn't enough in that case.

There's also a product called D-Mannose (spelling?) but I don't tolerate it for some reason. When I contacted the company they said it's composed of Beech and Birch woods.

@Lymetoo... there's hope, then! :-)
