I originally had my cd57 test done and it came back at 30. I just had another test done after 8 months of treatment and it came back at 19! LLMD says this is low immune system has been hurt by Lyme.
I started abx and infrared sauna and have been doing this for about 8 months. I feel better than before for sure.
Why is this number not getting better? This is kind of scaring me. I thought and feel like I am getting healthier, but my immune system is obviously not.
What can I do to help this situation? LLMD recommended BRM-4
Can anyone help shed some light on this for me?
Thank you! Fuel

Sometimes it does take a while. Below 60, some people feel, indicates mycoplasma is a significant problem as well. Are you taking anything intracellular for mycoplasma?

Dr. B says that a low CD57 shows that you're not ready to stop abx yet, and if you try stopping now there's a big chance of a relapse. The CD57 usually shoots up quickly when the infection is under control. It doesn't slowly go up - it shoots up quickly which signifies that the treatment was successful.
I think it simply means that you're not ready yet to stop abx. It doesn't actually mean that you're getting worse, it just means that you're not done yet.
Have you read "Healing Lyme Naturally" to learn which herbs can raise the CD57 numbers? I think the big one was astragalus, and the author says to take a TON of this every day. I don't remember the specifics very well, but if you'd like I can look them up for you.

Michael - I do have Mycoplasma, and apparently it must be active?
What can I take intracellular to help with this?
James - I have not read that book. I would be interested in hearing more. I suppose when I could purchase it if it is not too much money.. tight budget for now.
Thanks! Fuel

Fuel: My sickest is on the BRM#4 (expensive)and I'm hoping in August when we see the doc his CD57 number is not like yours after a year in treatment. I'm sorry it went down. You are still making gains though. I know I wasn't prepared for this long of road to recovery. I was clueless.
The boys' artemesia levels just tripled and the were double checked in case of lab error. Why? Isn't Lyme treatment a mystery?
What other labs were drawn? Any improvements there?
I check books out from the library especially on Lyme as there are so many. Then I make copies and take notes of what was pertinent. My sister today in Florida tried to check out two Lyme books and the librarian commented about how popular those books were. Doesn't that tell you something?!

i think just taking abx will lower the immune system because it doesnt have to work as hard, but it will hopefully rebound when the infection is under control, i havent done a cd57 i think i would rather not know!

Scorpio, From what I've gathered from reading a very high cd57 or very low cd57 are both signs that the immune system is weak most likely due to Lyme or it's friends. Normal range cd57 is a good sign. I think I'm right? Lol.

If I remember, any of the ---mycin antibiotics are thought to do intracellular (telithromycin aka ketek, azithromycin aka zithromax, clarithromycin aka biaxin, ...).
