My neuro surgeon suggested I try it. I have my first appointment next week. Anyone have experience? I have searched and read some positives. I hope it can give me some relief.

PT for what, the pain or balance issues. I went to balance rehab twice in two years and it did not work for me.

I would think some rehab on the joints would be great as long as you dont strain yourself.

I would love to do this if my PCP would refer me. I think it would be helpful in overcoming many symptoms. Especially getting you back into shape if they did strength training exercises.

When I had vertigo before I knew I had Lyme, I did exercises at home for vestibular rehabilitation. You can google it. It helped me A LOT!! I used to not be able to turn my head quickly or turn my head while walking. I can now. It may have also been helped with antibiotics but most of it was with exercises.

I am planning to do it. I need to work on my numb leg. Worst case scenario I'll have them massage my leg! [Smile]

My doctor referred me for PT when I requested. Went to appt and told the PT my history and it was a joke.

Let's see if I recall what she could do. Put me on a table and put something warm under my neck.
Left me in the room by myself for 30 minutes. They call this PT. I can do this at home and it doesn't cost me gas money, time or insurance co money.

I asked her if she knew this technique and that. No???? She said they do injury type PT to a specific(s) body parts.

I had one PT one time put me on a machine and did this grade thingy on me once. Wanted me to exercise. I was so ill at that time and wanted me lifting wieghts and crap.

He was trying to see what other therapy besides cranal sacral and another type body work a couple of the other employees were doing on me would "help" in my situation.

I said never again was some lyme ignorant PT going put me on equipment to strengthen me again. I was so angry by the end he knew he wasn't touching me again.

So just beware. I'm sure there are good PTs out there that have a clue what you do to benefit someone with lyme & co. Make sure if they do body work on you that they also know what in the heck they are dealing with.

Do not let someone go rubbing deep to try to rub the heck out of your body. If they don't know gentle and soothing, not very deep....tell them stop.

Explain they need to treat you with kid gloves until you know how your body is going to react to any type of body work.

i go to an awesome man for pt. not for balance. for pain/back discomfort.

he figured out i am actualy really flexible (which doesn't sound true because i feel stiff and achey)

Well, after some flexibility tests he showed me i was very flexible. too flexible. so he advised me to not over stretch and to build up strength thru very light physioball exercises.

i am getting stronger slowly, the exercises make me insomniac-ish.

sad that my PT appts run out soon [Frown]

good luck in finding a good PT person.

I love it! I feel relaxed, pampered, and cared for. Sometimes we add acupuncture to the mix! I can't wait to go back again!

Read Dr. B's Guidelines... there's a section on PT recommendations that you can actually take to the PT Dr as a treatment plan.
