How do you deal with this on top of the lyme? I tried some black cohosh today for the hot flashes. I don't know if it works on the mood swings and depression though. I guess I need to get off my but and start doing yoga again.

Lyme gave me a false menopause. I know others that had the same experience.

Good lyme treatment brought me back to a pre-menopausal state. Junky lyme treatment didn't.

I was on hormone replacement for the false menopause. It helped. The lyme shrunk my ovaries to nearly nothing. I was not producing any estrogen. The power of lyme disease!

So...how DOES one tell the difference between lyme/co-infection sweating and a true to life real peri/menopause induced hot flash that is NOT at all related to lyme and co.?

I can't differentiate between the peri-menopause symptoms and the symptoms of infections.

Nonetheless, i take a few natural herbal supplements and tinctures that are helpful in balancing hormones.

Here is one supplement that i tolerate very well, even with a sensitive system, and has a nice balance of herbs:

I also take extra motherwort tincture, vitex (chaste tree) and herbs for the nervous system, such as wood betony and passionflower.

My LLMD also has me on natural progesterone cream.
Hope this helps ~

I know that this is menopause because I'm right at that age (52).

Thanks everyone. I am making some sage tea right now (going to check out vitex, wood betony and passionflower tomorrow).

Carol, how much sage tea did you drink per day to keep the hot flashes away? And did it help with mood swings?

I had a complete hysterectomy at the age of 29 due to very severe indometriosis and huge ovarian cysts (caused by Lyme I'm positive)

So I have been there...trust me. Medical menopause is the worst.

I used bioidentical hormone cream for awhile and it did help me a lot but we can't afford it.

I've found that taking evening primrose capsules helps me pretty well.

Bio-identical hormones are wonderful and safe.

My menopausal symptoms were as bad as lyme. Hot flashes, migraine, insomnia, mood swings and pain in legs.

Darn if I didn't get bitten by a tick shortly after finding a solution to my menopause misery.

Thanks Carol! I would love to try bio identicals but I'm hesitant (two sisters had breast cancer). Plus, my neighbor told me that Suzanne Summers gave herself breast cancer (don't know if it is true).
