Hey everyone,

I'm not a very frequent poster to this board (I don't think I've posted anything since 2008), but I'm in need of some help.

I currently see an LLMD (a fairly prominent one, I think) every few months. I've been on a number of antibiotics for three years now (the majority of the time I've been on Biaxin--500mg twice per day). Over this same duration, I've been on 10mg of Paxil daily. Of all of the symptoms I've had since my diagnosis of chronic lyme back in 2008, the one that remains most prevalent is "brain fog." I'm having a very hard time communicating, socializing, remembering basic things, & being happy, essentially. I fear that the Paxil is having a negative effect on me--I'm not a depressive person by nature, but I've become more & more depressed/anxious over time. I know it'll be hard to stop taking this SSRI, but I want my social life back.

Does anyone have any advice as to what sort of holistic/natural supplements I could take? My LLMD has me on the Paxil in order to stimulate my brain metabolism, which she says I'll need to continue even 6-12 months after my blood test comes back negative. I haven't had an appointment in a while, so I haven't had a chance to talk it over with my LLMD, but there has to be something else I could do, right?

In the small amount of research I've done, I hear that Cat's Claw, gluthatione, or SAMe could be helpful as far as detoxification & neurological stimulation are concerned. Are any of these (or any other supplements) recommended?

Here's a brief overview of my current state: Diagnosed with chronic lyme back in 2008. Tested positive back in 2004 & 2001, but was given only 30 days of abx. Have been showing symptoms consistently since the age of 5. 1000mg Biaxin, 10mg Paxil, & 2-3x acidophilus per day. I smoke--I know, I know, I'm trying to quit [Smile] --I don't drink any alcohol, but I smoke marijuana (usually every day). The marijuana helps with stomach pains & anxiety, & I've noticed a marked difference since starting to smoke more often. I walk quite a bit, but I'm just starting to exercise more too.

I know this is a lengthy message, but any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated!

Thanks y'all,
K.

My first quess would be that the marijuana is causing the brain fog issues. Thats what I would give up first and see how my brain feels then.

I would look into treating for parasites which can cause the symptoms you describe. Parasites/worms can play a Major role in Lyme disease, and can be a co-infection. Do a search on here for parasites for lots of info.

Lithium orotate was helpful for me and I too would stop marijuana and see if the brain fog lifts.
