My DS9 has been battling chronic lyme (undiagnosed for 2 yrs, now 10 months into treatment). Just confirmed KPU and elevated mercury with urine test and getting ready to start treatment. LLMD wants us to start at 2 Core/day then build to 4 Core/day along with 30 chlorella/day.

He recommends BioPure Chlorella but this would be $132/mo at the doses he wants. Just beyond our budget on top of everything else. Also read concerns over radiation exposure to new chlorella harvests, regardless of brand.

So two questions -
1. Does anyone have opinions on Mercola chlorella (much more affordable)

2. What other options beyond chlorella? Clay is not an option as DS9 will not drink it. But he takes charcoal capsules and it's very affordable. Why is charcoal not used? Are there drawbacks? Is it an option instead of chlorella?

Finally, DS had horrible herx from tindamax. It took weeks after we stopped tindmax for things to resolve (lots of neuro issues, tics, anger, brain fog, OCD). Does a KPU herx resolve quickly when you slow down on Core? Any experiences?
Thanks

What dosage does he want per day with chlorella? (just curious)

ACZ Nano spray, Charcoal, Apple Pectin, DMSA

Those symptoms you listed could be Bart or metals.

Heavy metals tend to cause OCD-ish symptoms, brain fog, and frontal headaches for me.

Bart causes irritability, anger, rage, insomnia, streaks/rashes, calves, heart palps

He's being treated for Bart. Great improvement in first 3 months of treatment. But then plateaued. We have confirmed metals and KPU, so that's what we're treating next.

LLMD wants him to take 6000 mg/day (3 doses of 2000 mg/10 pills @ 200 mg ea = 30 pills/day).

Thought about asking for DMSA but it would be more expensive than chlorella. We have a $6500 insurance deductible that we haven't hit, so everything is out of pocket right now.

That's why I'm wondering about charcoal. It doesn't seem used much and I'm wondering why.

Charcoal is good for acute poisoning, but is believed by some to pull out medications and minerals too much if used daily.

Apple pectin, as Canefan suggests, is affordable and, in powder form, can be added to stewed apple, fruit salad etc.

You can also buy clay in capsule form, if that's all that's putting you off it. You could also try clay footbaths. Again, it might be wise not to use clay daily.

MSM is another relatively affordable option, which has quite a few benefits.

I am not convinced that metals come out very easily, I must caution, although the treatment for KPU may well start them flowing! You could ask your LLMD whether a regime of DMSA alternated with a cheaper, natural option would be possible if the cost of DMSA is the main reason for looking at other ideas.

Sounds like you guys have a good Doc and a good plan.

Just keep at it.

Here's a thread discussing chlorella sources

Thanks for the help! Yes, the liquid clay is what's put me off. Do you know where I can get capsules?

What is MSM?

I like your idea of alternating between DMSA and something else.

As for metals not coming out easily - my fear is that they'll drop like poop from a goose! When we did the heavy metals urine tests, we did a DMSA challenge - one dose 2 hrs prior to first urine catch. I asked if I needed to worry about a herx and LLMD said he'd never heard of any patient having an issue. Guess whose son had an uptick of neuro symptoms the next day? So I'm very fearful of what's ahead. Yet also know it's the only way out of the place we've been in for so long.

Thanks also for taking the time to find the chlorella thread. I appreciate it!

This is the Chlorella I have used for myself and my children. I buy it in bulk as 2500 tablets so it works out cheaper (85.90 = approx $130). This would last your son almost 3 months.

I too use the bulk buy Biopure chlorella pyrendosa recommended by Ticksickfamily and it seems to be available in US for $175 [for nearly 90 days' supply @30 tablets per day]. This is presumably the chlorella your LLMD is recommending too.

You could check before you buy whether they are still selling old stock of the chlorella [ie pre-radiation concerns].

Re. DMSA, I seemed to be OK after the challenge dose, but am sometimes finding it quite hard taking it [in smaller amounts than the challenge dose obviously] for 3 days running. It seems to vary....

.... My LLMD uses 'cycles' of DMSA 3 days on, then 11 days off to rebuild minerals and glutathione levels.
