Would love to hear from any of you that are being treated with Clindamycin.. Doxy made me so sick, GED etc. so now on Clindamycin and so far so good ..

Doctor started me out on a low dose then will slowly increase if I can tolerate.. She doesn't seem to know what to do with me so I feel I am doing this alone.

Tks.

Hey there,

I've not been on it myself, but do know others who have. For them it was a very good thing.

Hope some others will chime in for you!

I've been on IV Clindamycin for a year and a half. It's been great for me, with no side effects.

Are you taking it orally, as it can cause stomach issues? Hopefully you will be able to tolerate, because it's a great abx.

Tks.. Yes I am taking it orally for now, so far so good. The doxy liked to have killed my stomach. I am also taking a proboitic. What scares me is c-diff but the doc said that could happen with any antibiotic and for now I am on a small dose of clindy.

Will increase as I can tolerate. I had taken it once before when I had some dental work and had no problems but not long term .

The doc said it was now being used to treat lyme.
She also told me there is no cure but remission and with me only maybe a 40% but that is 40 %..

Happy to hear it is helping you.

Ok, I am one who will testify with both hands up in the air for clindamycin!

It's the only Lyme abx I can tolerate, for one thing - that's how I decided to try it, since I knew I was sensitive to other abx. And it worked, for my fibro and joint swelling symptoms - took them right down.

I put myself on it, 150mg 4x/day, just like my regime had been for a recent prior finger infection. I did fine, and then in a month's time I herxed, then backed down to 1-2x/day.

I still take 150mg 1-2x/day. It's a bacteriostatic, lincosamide drug. If I don't take it, my joints start to swell again.

I've had no problems with C diff in the 5 years I've taken it, and I DID get C diff once, from a course of erythromycin for an ear ache, and had to get IV at a hospital for it.

how much is a low dose? i was on 600mg 2 x a day. i think it was that that put me in an awful depression

i think the high dose crossed the BB barrier and caused depression

there were some life things going on too that might have had something to do with it

when i was on 300 2 x a day i didn't get depressed

yrs ago i was on 900 clind plus quinine and did ok

can't really say i got better...just was able to tolerate it

i always take sbc (you need that to prevent cdiff) and good qual probiotics

I tried to take it, and I liked it at first in terms of impact, but it gave me a terrible taste in my mouth and it made my ears ring pretty fiercely. So, I had to stop/

I have taken IV Clinda 1 week on 1 week off for about 3 months. I like the effects but when I go off I lose them. It does make me very tired (but that helps me sleep). Not sure what is next on the agenda.

I was on a low dose of it for 60 days following a low dose of Zithromax for 30 days.

I felt many of my symptoms lessen and disappear after the abx, but they are now back.

This was from late December through March.

I took Florastor and another 50 billion count probiotic fearing c-dif. I had no issues.
