Can anyone recommend a good workout DVD using weights. I have no home gym.
Does anyone know how to strengthen legs with weights at home without a machine?
Thanks!

I think lunges are awesome for the leg muscles, but you have to know how to do them properly, otherwise you could damage your knees.
I love lunges, but I end up hurting my knees too frequently with them.
There are tons of ways to do "weight lifting" without weights: Push ups pull ups sit ups chair ups etc

I have been doing a workout on On Demand called "The Butt Bible". I like it. There are three routines...levels 1, 2, and 3 for both upper and lower body. Level one is 23 minutes long. I have not moved on to level 2 yet but the program is a bit longer and level 3 longer than level 2.
The upper body and lower body routines are separate.
Another thing that I have that I enjoy is "Danskin lower body toner". It is cheap and easy to use. I think they make a beginner toning kit that also has something for th upper body.
Before I got too sick, I used to do the Jillian Michaels DVD's. I think if I tried them now, I would keel over and die. Seriously. Her workouts are NO JOKE! Lol. I needed something easier and the butt bible workouts seem to be easy enough for me to do.
You can search by what type of video/DVD you are looking for and watch free previews. It is also nice b/c you can search by what fitness level you are as well.

Philly - OMG GMTA! I just tried out the Butt bible last night for the first time. Level one. That woman on it is crazy. She is so muscular too.
I could not really do the lunges because my knees hurt and I have balance issues, so I did mostly the squats and just the ones where you lie on your back and thrust up (lol that does not sound too good!)
I didn't do the whole set - was too tired but I am kinda sore today - pathetic!

Here are some exercises to consider if you're able:
0. Stretch first to warm up. 1. For calves, consider calf raises on some raised stable surface. I do it on a step. Be careful or avoid if you have any tendon problems. Start slow and low.
2. For thighs, if you have one of those big exercise balls, consider doing some squats by placing big ball between your back and a wall. Do a nice controlled squat with thighs NOT going deeper than parallel to the floor (IOW, just level with floor). As you do your squat the ball just rides the wall as you go up and down. It supports your back nicely and gives a good workout.

I'm trying to pass legislation in the US that makes it illegal to use the words "butt" and "Bible" so close together in the same sentence like that.
PM me if you wanna sign the petition.
