Started taking Tindamax on Aug 1st - began at 250 mg once day, eventual full dose to be three times per day.
I began to have some signs of a herx on the second day; joint pain, increased muscle pain, extreme fatigue.
It wasn't too bad, so I went ahead and increased my dose to twice per day on Aug 3.
On the 4th, my voice got hoarse and I was even more tired and achy.
Last night I noticed a rash on my arms and thighs. It looks almost like chicken pox, but more spread out.
This morning I woke up feeling like someone beat me in my sleep. I hurt everywhere; every joint, every muscle. The areas that hurt the most are the muscles on the back of my thighs, my hips and my hands.
I've never taken Tindamax before. Are these symptoms of a typical herx?
My husband wants me to stop taking the Tindamax until I can call my LLMD on Monday. While that makes sense to me, there's another part that doesn't want to stop it unless I really have to.

Thanks TuTu. I stopped it today. The rash is so odd, since it only covers certain areas.
If I'm allergic to the Tindamax, shouldn't I have had a reaction sooner? When my son had an allergic reaction to Bactrim, he was sick within a couple of hours after his first dose.
Also, if Flagyl and Tindamax are cyst busters, what other antibiotic can replace them?

Allergic reactions to medications can occur at any time after one begins the medication...
While it is possible the rash is an allergic reaction, from reading the description, it sure sounds a lot like a severe herx.
It was recommended to me that if I ever tried Tindamax, to take it once a week until I could tolerate more, then maybe twice a week, etc. until I could handle daily doses.
I think it is possible that increasing the dose after your first herx symptoms began was possibly not a good thing - next time, maybe wait a day or two first to see where the intensity of the herx goes and then consider changing the dose.
The above is soley my opinion; I am not a doctor; Please consult your Lyme doctor before making any changes based on information given on message boards...
