I guess my L ear has been swollen and hurting for a few days. Now its throbbing. I have tried peroxide and some ear drops that have GSE, and tea tree oil. It hasn't done anything to help.
I have called 3 doc's here and can't get in anywhere. It seems they don't work on Fridays anymore.
lyme disease has made my ears sore lots of times. I've told my llmd but he just acts like it's not important.
This time it's much worse, I've poured peroxide down it for 3 days now and it bubbles so much that sometimes the liquid doesn't come back out. It blocks my hearing in that ear for a while.
I don't wanna put up with this all weekend, but if it's not a typical ear infection, they probably won't do anything for me anyway.
Does anyone have opinion on what to do? It's really starting to bother me pretty bad, all the time. There is an emergency clinic here that opens at noon. I can go down there, and see if they will give me something.
Anyhow, I wondered if this was a symptom of Bart? Maybe?

How did it go at the emergency clinic? I am curious to know if they said it was infected. CB

Yes, infected bad he said. He said was infected in inner ear and outer ear.
I was surprised, usually when my ears hurt it's not infected. This time just felt worse than usual though.
He gave me some amoxicillin and some ear drops. The swelling is going down and there is less pain. Hope 10 days of amox will kill it.

Do hot compresses.
This is a simple first aid action, as it increases the bloodflow to the ear, which increases the white blood cells to fight infection and the red blood cells to provide oxygen and nutrients to aid healing.
This is handy to know when you can't get in to see a doc. If you have an LED light therapy unit, like the LightWorks, treating the ears will reduce inflammation and speed healing.
Lay the light paddle on the ear, and use the 880 wavelength, which penetrates five inches. You can also place the light paddle at the angle of the jaw, aiming it up a little so that it gets to the duct between the ear and the throat.

This is exactly how my Lyme started--outer ear infections.
THey happened about every 6 weeks. Wish I had known then that it was Lyme because I got a lot worse within 2 years.
THe only thing that helped was cyprodex drops (for bacterial infections) or the gold dust that the ENT blows in your ear when it turns fungal.
With Lyme, your body gets really yeasty and fungal ear infections can be problematic. Treat the ears and then treat the Lyme. Don't waste time with hot compresses. You need real medicine unless you like the feeling of an ice pick being driven into your ear. THe powder works in 2 hours. It takes 3 days for relief with the ciprodex. Get a good ENT to figure out if it's bacterial or fungal.

Thanks for all the replies. The drops he gave seem to be helping and the amox too I guess. The swelling has really come down today. It's still sore and have some sharp pains at times, but not like before. The drops are cortane? The pharmacist said they are older, not used that much anymore. I think she said they have a pain killer, anti-inflammatory and steriod. The steroid part scares me some, but I had to do something.
Hopefully this will go away in a few more days and the buggers will move on. If not, I may have to see ENT. (again) I've been a couple of times.
Once for ear infection, years ago,(they thought I had meniere's disease (SP?) but I had infection.
I had been another time for hypoxia after my sleep study. He recommended the cpap machine, but the insurance wouldn't pay unless it was dx of apnea. So, I just waited and it got better with time.
I will keep all your suggestions in mind. I appreciate so much all of you on here, trying to help and being supportive, it means alot.
