i have 3 sons and 3 brothers and lots of ppl email me...but this subject is very popular right now
and i am not an expert at all...just trying to help these (mostly) young guys
it would probalbly be a good idea to try to sonsolidate all these posts in one but i don't have time today
so the new one's sx are:
enlarged prostate at a young age (late 30s) problems with urination and other uncomfortable feelings "down there"
2 yrs of cipro has not made the enlargement go away
biopsy was neg
also-before problems was dx and aggressively txed for lyme
at one point one testicle swelled a lot and was very painful...abx helped bring that down(forget wheic abx)
now..because cipro is not working after 2 yrs(gees...can you imagine 2 yrs of cipro-i don't know the dose tho-but it seems amazing his tendonds are ok-)
anyway-they switched him to bactrim
he immediatly got his original lyme pains back-very sore hands and burning skin
so to me...it kind of sounds like a no brainer...he is dealing with lyme and bactrim gets the bugs and if he can't take the herx (he stopped bactrim cuz he coudn't work with such bad herx)
so i think he should start with low dose bacrim and build up
but he is worried about resistance...hes a smart guy...but i know when i was in this place with rifampin and bart i had to do it (lower the dose and build up) and it worked to get the bart
time will tell about the resisitance
for me the risk was worth it---but i'd like to hear from anyone who had dealt with these sx or has an opinion...thanks

Ipkayak,
If you go to the symptom list at Humaworm, prostrate problems is listed. If abx haven't worked, perhaps an antiparasitic might make a difference. It's worth a try. If you do, remember 30 days is not enough.
