Curious if anyone has any suggestions to help kiddos detox?

I just received the diagnosis of Lyme/co for my 3 children (ages 8,6 and 3) and started tx last week.

I opted to start with homeopathics and work our way up to the abx. One the lowest dose, they are all herxing terribly. My 3 year old laid in bed last night and cried saying her whole body hurt.

We are doing detox baths (epsom, peroxide and baking soda), they drink lots of water, eat well, exercise...

Just curious if any parents had luck with a specific detox supplement?

Thanks for any ideas!

I am sorry your kids are sick. I have a 10 yo who's been sick for over 5 years with this. She probably had it at birth, and we didn't know.

She takes the baths some, and drinks the water as often as I can get her to.

I don't have any other suggestions for you, I just wanted to let you know I feel your pain. Hate to see kids suffering with this stuff. It's bad enough you have to and you can't do things you want to do with the kids, but then to have to watch them go through the symptoms too..well it's horrifying.

Take care of yourself, so you can help your kids. My llmd has reminded me of this many times.

Lemon water... squeeze half a lemon in a glass of water, add a little honey for the kiddos, and have them drink this all day long.

I am not totally positive about for the kids so check this with their doctor, but I do castor oil packs daily. They draw toxins from the liver, and all the kid has to do is lie down for 45 minutes with a castor oil soaked flannel on their tummy.

I take activated charcoal i when I herx, and it help calm things down tremendously. I have to take it 2 hours either side from all medications and supplements. I know the toddler probably would have a hard time, but ask your doctor. Maybe it is something the older kids can do.

I cannot imagine how hard it is to watch all 3 of your babies suffer like that. I have a 3 year old and 13 year old. The 13 year old does not have it (he is my stepson) but my 3 year old probably has it. We are trying to get me a little better before we start looking at her. My heart goes out to you.

I will also tell you that a friend of mine's children were diagnosed when they were the age of your older two. Hers were incredibly sick, the girl was wheelchair bound and missed the entire second grade. Both are now symptom free (6 months and 3 months) and doing incredibly well. Her son just won state with his baseball team. Children are amazingly strong and resilient. As hard as it is to watch them suffer, they can bounce right back. and ditto what twicebitten said: take care of yourself in this process.

twicebitten- thank you for the encouragement! I'm heartbroken to hear how ill your friends children were but it is encouraging for me to hear. I'm praying next summer we'll be a whole new family!

Searching- I drink the lemon water and my kids have tried it but didn't like it. I'll have to try it with honey, that might be enough to fool them [Smile] I'm also really interested in the castor oil pack. That would be really easy, I'll talk to my dr about it, thanks for the tip!

jlcd1- the milk thistle I take is a tablet, I could probably just crush it and have them eat it with yogurt or something soft. I really appreciate you adding that!

I really needed the encouragement after a hard night last night. [group hug]

You could mix the lemon juice in with some carbonated water, then add some stevia extract. This tastes exactly like 7-Up, and any kids would love it. Plus it's sugar-free.

I drink 4 lemons a day like this! [Smile]

Good luck with your kids. I can't imagine how painful that must be.
