Please help me connect the dots between current lab results and possible adrenal fatigue and hypothyroid issues......main current symptoms are fatigue, malaise......
Spoke with my llmd's PA yesterday about lab results and was advised to see gastro doc......said low iron is unusual and could be due to possible ulcers or polyps in the colon.
I asked him if it could be linked to babesia (have been treated for this with abx in the past and I'm now on A-Bab and A-Bart)....he said it's possible but first rule out other things with the gastro.
Through my research I found that low iron could be linked to anemia, pernicious anemia, celiac, thyroid among other things....."iron is needed in order for the thyroid to be able to convert properly T4 to T3, and for the T3 to get into the cells as it should......low iron causes extreme adrenal stress as your body cannot utilize thyroid hormone properly (even your own) unless these levels are correct".
Recent lab results from labcorp:
Iron & TIBC: Iron Bind. Cap.- 360 (range 250-450) UIBC - 312 (150-375) Iron, Serum 48 (35-155) Iron Saturation 13 Low (15-55) Ferritin Serum- 30- (13-150)
Vitamin D 25 Hydroxy - 31 low ( this went up to 41 a couple of months but got a little lazy with supplements since then ......started to take 5,000 IU's again)
Vitamin B-12 1514 High (range 211 - 946) reading some previous posts about this issue I'm beginning to realize that I may actually be deficient in B-12.
Questions:
Have any of you experienced a similar scenario?
Reading some previous posts on this board, I realize that the high B-12 reading may mean that my body is not absorbing this vitamin and that I may actually be deficient......where or how can I get a good test for this?
Any special tests I should ask the gastro to do? He has checked me for Celiac sprue in the past but it was negative......I know this doesn't always mean you don't have it.
Is there a special vitamin absorption test and where can I have it done?
Thank you!
