I'm a little confused. Is Coptis meant to treat primarily Bartonella or Babesia?

I was under the impression it's for lyme but also hits bart. Are you taking Dr. Zhang's herbs? He uses Artemesia to hit the babesia.

I haven't done Zhang yet - did some Cowden antimicrobials with lots of herxing but only some minor symptom improvement.

Had a hard time with artemisinin. Just looking for anything that might result in a gain of overall functioning.

I was told to take 6 Coptis, so I can take less HH.
Coptis works for bartonella and protozoa and other germs. Do you have the book, there is a chapter.
For babesia artemisia works in high doses. Most people have trouble starting artemisia. You need to start with 1/8 th of caps and never add more than one a week. It takes time.

Coptis is an amazing herb.

It is meant to be part of a formula (or protocol), never alone, as it is a very cold herb and needs a balance of other ingredients.

It is discussed in this book:

I was Rxed it by my LLND as part of a Lyme-fighting protocol.
I was to take it when I was taking a break from the garlic (Allicun).
Never could keep on it, though, as it caused heart palpitations for Me. (Yes... I verified that thru multiple trials.)
Still, I read good things about it.

Coptis is good for people with liver problems and it also helps for protozoa. If you have bugs in the heart, they might react immediately.
Start always with 1/8 th of a capsule then the reaction is not so bad.

I took coptis and R5081 as well as the rest of the protocol for 5 months and I relapsed. I believe you need to take a lot more than what is recommended and you need to feel close to well when you start it.

nefferdun,

sorry to hear of a relapse. It's always so rough.

Whatever treatment protocol is chosen, many people find they need treatment for 6 - 12 months, or longer.

Coptis was actually one of the earlier supplements I was introduced to (Coptis and Evodia formula) and it was a miracle for my stomach. I did not then know about lyme, though.

I hope, whatever else you did after that 5 months, that you are feeling better these days.

Neverdun, how many coptis and RO5081 did you take?
I tried a year ago and got a horrible herx from 6 RO5081 and 3 Coptis.

Now I am slowly working my way up again, obviously this treatment had hit something.

I am now on 4.5 coptis and adding.
Dr. Z told me to stay on the herbs for the rest of my life. Hopefully on a low dose.

Bump
Good info on coptis , an herb which Dr Zhang writes about .
I have used coptis tincture from Herb Pharm , and believe it has really helped me with lyme and babs .

Just be careful with coptis. I took it long ago, like some GRAINS of coptis powder, as I knew this was strong, one of the STRONGEST herbs in Chinese pharmacopea.

It was so strong on my stomach, like NOTHING I ever tried. Nothing caused me the tummy pain as strong as coptis did.

I think today I could drink a drop of gasoline, but I would never put a drop of coptis in my mouth!! Just go very slow in the starting point!!!!!

Years ago, there was a man who posted as Jimbob. He could stomach most things, without problem. But he had also BIG trouble with coptis and stopped it.

I believe (just a believe) that if taken in SPECIAL combination (the Chinese practioners would know which) for different people, it wouldn't cause the problem. But alone... well, I would do it only with great care and very very slow.

Start with some grains to see (I'm not kidding), and then slowly increase. I don't know about coptis tincture though.
