Just wanted to share in case this can help anyone else. I'm not sure which co infection caused my insomnia but it's been a little over 3 years. I was sleeping about 2 to 4 hours 2 nights a week at first. After 1 month of zith it changed to about 4 hours 5 nights a week. After 2 months of zith, more than 4 hours every night. It's been 3 months on zith now and last night - I slept through the night!!!

Awe... that's awesome!! I was not sleeping then I got on Invanz and slept like a babe. It was either that or all my supplements.
Started Zithro last month pulsing 2 weeks each month and the last 3 days NO sleep again!! However, I also started Samento, Bandoral, Artemisinin and a few other herbs... so who knows WHICH of these are taking me back to the no sleep land. But I'm soo frustrated. I was soo enjoying my 10 hours of sleep a night. I'm done w/ Zithro this Friday for the month so I'll see if I get my sleep back. If I do then Zithro cause the opposite effect on my than on you.

Zithro did not help me sleep. Babesia knocked me out! When I got the babesia under control - back to needing something to sleep.

It's crazy how the same meds work so differently for each person. My llmd said the insomnia is from one of the co infections and the zith is treating that. He said as the zith kills more and more bacteria, the more my sleep will improve. So far it's working out. Each month when I herx, I don't sleep at all for a few nights!

When I was treating bart and my babesia began to emerge, I could fall asleep anywhere. It was kind of wonderful after all that time not being able to fall asleep, staying awake half the night.
I have always had insomnia since childhood and needed strict environmental controls to be able to fall asleep and stay asleep. So it was shocking that I could fall asleep during one of my favorite TV programs and stay asleep in spite of noises all around me - people talking, cat's walking on me - even thunder storms.
Bart causes insomnia so getting rid of that would certainly help your sleep but don't forget about your babesia.

Bart causes me to sleep all the time! It makes me tired where Babesia made me fatigued. When I started Zith, i was so tired I could only stay awake for about an hour at a time, then i would nap for 2 hours and do it all over again. My herxes with zith knocked me out just like you. Im sorta of glad I don't have the insomnia, but then again I just sleep all the time!
