I was wondering how you tell if you are having a herx, from, just feeling bad from the Lyme, from just having a bad day?
I had one real definite herx days after I started abx. But how do I know the abx are still working?
Since then I have felt pretty good for about 7days a month...then I feel crappy for a few days...then crash....then I start to feel better and it starts all over.
I have spent 15 years thinking I had fibromyalgia, I never kept a journal before. But I rarely had great days like I do now those 7 days a month... But also rarely felt as bad as I do now when I crash.
So how do I know it's working? And what is just how I feel? When do you stop treating and test it? And what happens if you do stop abx?
Thanks everyone.

If you are feeling bad it is probably a herx. I feel like I have a cross between a bad head cold.(headache, heavy head)and the flu(muscle pain, low grade fever).
Hope you start to feel better.

For my first couple of months I felt bad all the time, then I started to have a herx about every two weeks, and finally a few months in I woke up one day and realized I felt great.
Recently I didn't have a herx for about six weeks, then one day I woke up and felt the worst herx I had since the beginning. Irritable, sore neck, twitching, severe allergies, floaters, and upset stomach.
I think every person is different and their bodies respond differently. Some of my herx lasted a day or two, others lasted for a week or two. The last one lasted for about two weeks.
My doc treats until you don't have a symptom for eight straight weeks, she has you keep a daily log of symptoms and has you come in every four to six weeks for a check up.
We suspect that we had it around eight months before proper treatment and yet we are still on abx seven months later. I would guess if you had it for fifteen years you have a long road ahead of you.
Good luck and try to remain positive, I know it's easy to get discouraged. As soon as you see a significant difference you will see the benefit of your dedication. Good luck!
