I have been on plaquenil my whole treatment. Why is this...what is this for?

cyst busting, inflammation. Google plaquenil for Lyme & you find papers about it.
There may be info in the Lymenet library (left side of the page here)

It is also supposed to help some of the intracellular antibiotics work better.

The primary reason to take Plaquenil is to help raise cellular ph levels so that macrolide antibiotics (Zith / Biaxin, etc) work better against lyme. Without it, lyme will hang out in low ph areas of a cell where the abx don't work well. Adding plaquenil eliminates these low ph pockets (or so I'm told. ) Amantadine does the same.
I've read Plaquenil may also bust cysts, but Lymemd (blog) says it can make them as well.
