Hello all. I have an infected tooth, it's been cracked, with an exposed amalgam for a while now. I have started to have pain upon touching the gum above it, and also pain in the sinus area above it.

It needs to come out. I believe this is the very last amalgam filling in my mouth.

What can I do to make sure this doesn't make me worse? Is it true that an extraction can cause a backslide?
I have heard many people here say that removing infected teeth/ amalgams is essential for healing Lyme.

What are some things I should do to prepare for the extraction this friday, and what should I do to protect myself afterwards?

One person here suggested I do oil pulling the days before, and take chlorella tablets are liposomal Vitamin C afterwards.

Is this a sufficient method? Is there anything else I should do? A different way to prepare?

Also, right now I am only pulsing Biaxin, MWF. I am guessing they will want to give me Doxy or something every day after the root canal.

I also take Malarone every day. Can Doxy be taken w/ MAlarone? Should I just aske for more Biaxin?

Sorry for all the questions, I am a little nervous about all of this.

Lots of dentists prescribe clindamycin, be sure you are up on your probiotics. It's one of the worst abx which causes c-diff. It is broad spectrum and kills all the 'good' bacteria in your gut, leaving the c-diff bacteria room to grow. Any abx can cause it, so probiotics are a good thing no matter what they prescribe.

It is a nasty bacteria, contagious and hard to get rid of. Theralac, Florastor, VSL, and Culturelle are all good ones.

I think you can get Culturelle at Walgreens, the others you have to order, but Whole Foods sells S Boullardi, which is what's in Florastor. They just sell a different brand.

You can take the probiotics at a different time of day than the abx so the two aren't competing with each other.

Oil pulling is really good for your dental health. I just had my teeth cleaned and the hygenist couldn't figure out why I had no bacteria on my teeth. She said that was very unusual. I have been doing it for about a year and it also works on yeast and other toxins in the body.

Good luck.

will the chlorella & liposomal C flush out the antibiotics too?

I have been taking S Boullardi for about a week. I only take it once a day. Timing everything is extremely difficult, especially with a Lyme brain!
