Here is a site for the 12 drugs used for malaria. These are used for babesia as well but for a much longer period of time. You have to scroll down a bit to get past the general information about malaria. It gives side effects and risks as well.
Common drugs given are Mepron/zithro/artemesinin or malarone/zithro/artemesinin. Babesia duncani is so resistant it takes a high dose to get rid of it. Some doctors use both malarone and mepron together.
Sometimes Plaquenil or Bactrim DS is also added - or clindamycin is used instead of zithro.
Stronger derivatives of artemsia can be used such as artesunate or artemether. Coartem is a relatively new drug that is only taken for three days. It contains artemether as the second ingredient - hence Co-Artem(ether)

I have taken zhang art for awhile not. Done malarone. The hardest one and most improvement I have had is coartem. Have not done the mepron and zith combo. I think my dr. wants to avoid it because of the cost.

Thanks nefferdun for that site, great info. Under the Malarone section they mention: the combination of Atovaquone + Doxycycline is also active. I thought that combo was a no go?? Interesting, I'll give the malarone & doxy a try.

Yes, anxiety is also a Babs symptom. It's not just Bart/Lyme. Dr. S of one of the Lyme Books mentions it as a symptom.
