I started Plaquinel end of July 2011 while still on Suprax and Azithro. Also take Vit D, Calcium/Magnesium, acidolphilos and tylenol as needed. I also returned to work mid August and I am feeling 100% worse. It was gradual but now really bad. Joint pain worse that ever (job is aggravating that) I type all day. Fatigue/swollen glands/sore throat, sinus's are raging and the headaches/body aches are nonstop.

getting extremely depressed and paranoid. I have never felt like this in my entire life and feel like I am losing my mind. Could it be introduction to the other med combined with returning to work or maybe my body is getting immuned to these oral meds need a change, maybe IV as well. See my Lyme doc 10/06/2011 and if this continues may go back out of work again and consider IV now. I am very confused. [Frown]

Maybe it's hitting babesia??

or you have candida going on .. acidophilus by itself is usually not enough. You need many strains and high quality stuff.

Let's count this as a herx of some kind!

I was tested for coinfections in 2010 and 2011 and all negative. Can candida cause the joint pain? Do they have a test to check for the candida? If this is a herx it is the worst one I had.

You could have co-infections, and still test negative. Like lyme, it's a clinical diagnosis.

Plaquenil is a commonly prescribed drug for arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. It's also prescribed for babesia because it's classified as an anti-malarial drug. That must be why lymetoo thought you might have babesia, and why you are having more pain.

I would put a call in to the doctor and let them know what's going on, and if needed a phone consult.

What are you doing for a herx, and for detoxing? Are you taking any binders? If you're only taking what you have listed, then you need to get the toxins OUT of your body.

This illness is more than killing the bugs, but getting them out and the toxins they create, or they will make you feel worse.

TESTING for coinfections is VERY flawed and rife with false negatives. I hope your doctor would be willing to give you a trial run of meds for babesia to see what happens.

Yeast can cause joint pain. I've never been tested for yeast since I know when I have it .. and the testing is not all that great either!! (sigh)

I don't have my links today, but you can do a search here with my member number "743" .. It should bring up the info on candida/yeast.

What are binders and what do i need to do for the detox? I don't know how to get the toxins out. I am seeing my family doc tonight and will unload.

JLaw, as the antibiotics/anti-malarials kill the bugs, they release a toxin, which for me is the biggest reason for "feeling" sick.

This is going to sound gross, but you've got to poop, pee or sweat it out. This can be done with drinking lots of water, lemon and water, lemon olive oil drink, hydrogen peroxide/epsom salts bath, fir sauna, mild exercise, foot detox, Pekana detox kit or Nutramedix burbur and parsley to name a few.

You also have to bind the toxins so they don't get reabsorbed with binders like Apple pectin, activated charcoal, cholestyramine, chlorella, bentonite clay and others.

I see that you are taking magnesium with calcium. Make sure you are taking enough magnesium or magnesium-based product (I use Oxy-Powder)to flush your colon daily.

These must be taken two hours away from antibiotics.

I agree that you should try to detox some of the herx symptoms you are experiencing. When I start a new drug I go downhill fast because of the killing of the bad guys.

Your symptoms sound A LOT like my Bartonella symptoms I have been experiencing since starting Rifampin. Look up Bartonella symptoms. The frontal (sinus-like) headaches, pain in all joints/muscles, swollen glands, fatigue and sore throat are all listed. I tested NEGATIVE for Bartonella but it seems to be my worst infection and I know I have it. The anxiety/paranoia is also a tell tale Bartonella symptom.

When you start to kill off one infection (say, Lyme) then another infection will emerge and take over.
