Anyone know of a good way to get a discount on 1.2 bicillan shots. I used to be on them with Dr. B 2 years ago and had insurance pay for it. But my new doc wants me to go back on them but the insurance will not cover them now. I know they cost about $450-$500 for 10. Does anyone get a better offer or know of a good place to order from? Thank you so much.....

I am on IM bicillin and I just filled my rx yesterday. 278.00 for 10 1.2 dosage. I had to pay 105.00 my insurance covered the rest. I only payed 20.00 per mo. for IV Rocephin and it costs way more than bicillin.
I don't know why ins. has me paying this much, will have to call and find out.

Without insurance $50 per shot is about what we are all paying and since there is no generic (in the U.S), you won't find them any cheaper unfortunately.
If I were you I'd call my insurer and ask them about "prior authorization" - mine were not covered by my insurance until my insurance co. faxed a form to my doctor, he had to fill out and doseage and diagnosis info. etc., and he faxed it back. The whole process took less than 3 days and my insurance approved coverage of them....for awhile.

Thanks for your info. I can't rely on my insurance to pay for them because after having Lyme so long Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield refuses to pay for many antibiotics for me. I appealed the case and it went to some "expert" docotrs that agreed I don't need Lyem treatment any longer. However I still have many symtpoms I had years ago. It's a tough case because treatment will be long since I went years without it beign diagnosed. I now have to get a logner. In the mean time I have to shell out the funds. Feelfit- where did you get the $278 price from? Thank you!

If anyone has Caremark as their pharmacy provider you should contact them and see what the cost is for bicillin if you do mail order because it might save you some money.
I just started bicillin a few weeks ago and the copay at the pharmacy was $45 for a 1 month supply. I contacted Caremark and they said if I order directly from them (through mail order) it would be $25 for a THREE month supply. I just got the delivery today and I received my 30 shots (10 per month) for $25.
Just thought I'd pass along this info because any savings here and there really adds up.

A friend of mine on medicare, who could not get this covered at local pharms or a semi-local compounding pharm for whatever reason, had incredible success with Prescription Solutions. They got a 3 mo supply of this ($$$$ for 4 shots/wk) for $126 including shipping. I don't know how the pharm did it, but it might be worth a try if you've struck out elsewhere. The phone I have for that pharm is 866-218-5445
