I have a thermometer that hangs in the lower or middle part of my fridge.

With meds in the fridge - I watch that thermometer like a hawk.

During cold weather I adjust the fridge thermostat - as well during hot weather.

The "room" temperature effects how cold it gets inside the fridge.

I have been remiss and not checked the thermometer
in perhaps two months.

I panicked last night when I saw that the thermometer read 51 deg. F - in the spoilage range.

I have some Bicillin-LA in the fridge.
Doubly panicked when I read that it is to be stored at 36-46 deg. F.

The B-LA has expiration date of 2016.

I don't know if my fridge has been above 46 deg. for two weeks or two months.

I called the manufacturer and they could not tell me anything in regards to how the B-LA would be effected.

Anyone have this happen? Know anything?

I can't believe I did this. The past months have been so stressful. Thanks.

Bicillin-LA can be okay even at room temperature for awhile. I spoke a rep awhile back.

I can't remember how long, but apparently several hours.

Someone I know had left the bicillin out on the counter for something like 8 hours and freaked out.

She was pissed at herself because she threw it out and later talked to a rep and found out it was still good.

If it's been a in a cool fridge, it's probably still okay.

I'd be more concerned if it was left out on the counter for 2 weeks.

Thanks.

I had taken a break from the B-LA.

I had wanted to try Rocephin. After a few Roc. IM injections (painful)- and the hassles with getting it I thought to go back to B-LA.

I gave myself a B-LA injection last night.

Much less painful today than after the Roc. IM.

I have enough B-LA to last a couple of months.

Being that it was above 46 deg. for possibly two months - should it still be good for two months from now? Obviously I have adjusted the thermostat and the reading is back in range.

The rep. I talked to would not give any info.
Perhaps I need to talk to yours!

How do others know their fridge is the correct temperature? Do you check? My fridge is old.
Newer fridges display the temp?

It should be fine. You could also call a pharmacist for his/her opinion.
