Anyone have experience with upping their malarone dosage? I started with 1/2, then 1 per day for about 11 days. I'm having some flulilke malaise, and don't know if its overexertion ( I work) or a herx. I'd like to get to 4 pills a day.
I've never been tested for babs, but my initial illness that triggered remitting/relapsing CFS/ Lyme eleven years ago gave me 103 fevers for 10 days and drenching sweats like I never had in my life.
I had a consult with a doctor that suggested my remitting relapsing disease might possibly indicate untreated babs and/or bart.
I was on malarone 2 years ago for about 3 months 1/day and I enjoyed a remission of about 85-90% for two years. Recently I relapsed in April and am really struggling. I have some leftover malarone, and read that a dosage of 4 per day (which my original LLMD recommended) is a good dosage.
How did you ramp up and what side effects did you have?
Thanks for your input.

I was taking 1 3x / day and we doubled it to 3, 2x / day (6 total.)
I just took it. I don't think there is a need to ramp up. But then again I'm a "big guy" (over 200lbs.)
I had no major issues.

I take 3 twice a day. I did not ramp up. I only had trouble when I tried to add in Mepron which was too much and then Bactrim DS. I guess this dose is my limit.

Thanks for your replies. I have a lot of depession/anxiety and flulike malaise which are my worst symtoms. I'm thinking the meds may be making it worse, but then I've felt really sick since my relapse in April. Improved some, but not enough. I work full time, but had to stay home today. Too miserable, especially eith 3 1/2 hours sleep.I'm trying to do the 5-htp thing along with everything else. Nothings working.
Is this Babesia?
