Diflucan - 200mg. For a month or more. Recent studies show most sinus infections are in fact fungal in nature.

I was under the care of an ENT and Allergist for my horrible sinus issues, and not one of them thought 'hey, let's see if it's fungal, by either doing a culture or treating for it'. My LLMD put me on Diflucan, and when I went back to the ENT a month later, he could not believe the difference. He said he was looking at normal sinuses now, when a month before he threatened with the scraping surgery.

Given your history with lyme, my money's on fungal. Also, get yourself a bottle of Xlear - it's a saline mist with xylitol - the xylitol keeps fungi/bacteria from sticking to your sinus cavity. Use it twice a day.

Signed, the former Sinus Infection Queen

What about a Neti Pot? I have been thinking about trying this for my sinuses.

Should help. But I swear by Xlear - just spray and you're done.

Those nasty sinus issues..I know....

Tried every med known to man and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Only abx. to really clear my sinuses when they are infected is Levaquin - sometime Biaxin

Now I work towards prevention. I MUST stay on my allergy meds or I will get an infection. No way around it for me. If I am off allergy meds for more then a week I can feel my sinuses getting ****ed off.

I do the neti pot once a day and add colloidal silver and grapefruit seed extract to the saline mix. Helps to reduce the bacteria and any fugus that may be in there.

I also use a fine steam mister twice a day with eucaluptus and tea tree oil in it. That combo really opens me up and lets stuff drain.

Sudafed is a must at times and although I do not like the side effects it helps to let things drain out. Best of luck to you..

I have been on ABX for 16 days now and my sinuses seem to be in overdrive. Could this be a herx reaction?

I am supposed to take Diflucan 5 days on and 2 off, but I forgot to take it the last 3-4 days. Could this be the problem or could it be both?

I wasn't sure if I should take a sinus/allergy type med with the other stuff, but I could have literally drowned last night in my own snot!

I was also contemplating shoving Monistat suppositories up my nose to see if that would take care of the fungal/yeast aspect of my sinus problems after to reading the above post about that.

The shots you took for your back....if they were steroid type that is the worse thing for any one with Lyme and or co=infections.

I had shots ,,2 for back and one in each hip over 5 month period last summer.

within 8 hours of last set of shots all H--- broke loose in my body... Every symptom went nuts and I've not been able to get back to even the bad place I was at physically at that time.

this is before Lyme diagnoses. But they did know ,or were treating/non-treating a problem at the time. Part of the falling through cracks/doctors not putting 2 and 2 together. Now

all my numbers are way different ,like my CD57 was 167 before this now I'm in 20's..... The sorry goes on and on... Steroids put the whole infection
n /kett thing in major over drive...

Just feed it red bull..... I know what a problem this is cause my s1/l5 are pushed in and a herniated disk above....

Some how I just need to praise God in the middle of this whole mess. But I'm crying also.......

[bow] [loco] [shake] [shake]

LORD in the middle of all of these replies<<<<<<<

so sorry to hear about your son.... Don't know the details ,but Lord help you. [Frown] [kiss]

You said without them you can't walk...are they the kenalog type????spelling etc.... When I started getting sick I was in Kaiser network...either their shots WEREN'T as strong ,cause they helped pain somewhat for a few months, or when I had different coverage I GOT MORE/STRONGER OR NON-GENERIC stuff .

That's when the infection stuff went nuts. Was told the steroid shot just fueled all the bad stuff by a MD that also uses alternative methods.

Again , my prayers go out to you about your loss [group hug] [dizzy] [hi]
